A road trip to Jaisalmer all the way from Bangalore. me and three of my friends started this journey a week back.we started our drive 8th of December from a town called chikmaglur, which is beautiful hill station surrounded by coffee estates rich flora and fauna ,highest peak of Karnataka, lots of color's.
After we left from chikmaglur we joined national highway near city called davangere, from there we stopped by for food at "rashta" , u must visit if u r travelling by that road.after food we drove night towards Hubli dharwad, our first stay was at dharward bypass.
Again morning after having delicious idli dosa we started our journey from dharwad via belgaum kolhapur solapur satara Pune. what I feel best about drives is you spend all the time friends, play music and whole driving enjoy different beautiful landscapes of places you drive through because in India every state has different landscapes cultures .by evening we reached around Pune and my God that drive from Pune to Mumbai at sunset is mesmerizing.then we went marine beach, spend some time there and continued our drive towards Rajasthan. late night we reached Surat around 3am and crashed in a hotel
Morning had gujrati breakfast dhokla n fafda and started our drive . Please get fastag guys ,you will save lot of time on highways. With smooth highway and music by late evening we reached a small village in Rajasthan called charnim where we had to attend a royal Rajasthan rajput wedding .we had delicious LAL MAS and old monk rum with freezing cold and folk music .
Next after wishing people around we left morning to Jaisalmer and omg that road drive was on of the best in my life. butter like roads ,long stretch and sand dunes all around with wind mills.what more can you ask for drive .
As soon as you enter Jaisalmer you will find beautiful golden structures, golden fort at top of city , everything around is so royal and architecture is amazing .
We met a friend of mine and he helped us booking as tent house in village SAM which was 40km from Jaisalmer. Stay worked out very cheap for us which Included Jeep safari and camel ride at sunset.
The colours at sunset was dream come true .I have seen many sunset at different places places but sunset at sand dunes thar desert was something else.sand when reflects to sunset turns golden orange.you just sit on those sand dunes and just enjoy blissful view .
After sunset we had cultural display at our stay with folk dance and live music .
After having dinner we took our car and drove to middle of virign desert with windmill around freezing cold clear bright sky with lots of stars .this was one most amazing experience of my life spending night in desert . You can see countless falling stars all night .
"sand dunes that dance to cold breeze"
Next day morning we were at desert sunrise , it was freezing cold ,we had a tea and sat there looking into warm sun rising from dunes .we were sitting for almost hours doing nothing just admiring beauty of nature .
Then after checking out from stay we started our drive to udaipur where reached late night around 10.checked into beautiful hotel THAMAL HAVELI by pichola lake .sitting in balcony with rum and Rajasthani food and beautiful view , day we'll eneded
Wake up with pichola lake view and coffee
Morning scenes at hotel was like "surprise wake up"
Sunrise through your window .morning arti on other side of lake ,boats travelling in lake and hotel person comes and gives you hot coffee😍
You won't believe but I had 4 coffee in morning looking at view .
Then started our day with city palace which is awesome example of our ancient architecture and skills.
We had been to karni maata in rope cab with amazing udaipur city view.
Noon we visited khamma ghani restaurant by lake side having lal mas and beer. This restaurant is must visit place in udaipur.
And when you travel around in udaipur don't drive just hire a rikshaw and enjoy city drive.
By the time we reached sajjangarh palace it was 5.30 and we couldn't go in because now they close at 5 .
Then went local shopping at HATHI POL .you find many antique stuff here . Rajasthani saree blankets n everything at less prices.
Since it was covid times city closes at 8 so we had go back to our blissful stay and chill at hotel .
Next day morning we started our journey back to Karnataka madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. night we stayed at shirdi next morning we said baba darshan and late night reached back to our town chikmaglur
In this whole journey of around 4800km in a week , I have had different experiences related to food stay people roads police view but one thing for sure road drives never disappoints you. also make sure your vehicle is in right condition ,you carry all documents and vehicle doesn't have fancy number plates and tilts because as soon as you enter states police always waits for you so be sure with vehicle .
Other than that it was one most memorable 7days of 4800km drive.
