Leh-Ladakh is one of the dream destination of all the travelers and a must bucket list as well. Optimum time to visit here is during summer for good adventure all the ice and glaciers starts melting and ones face amazing water crossing and off-roading during entire journey. Always prefer to visit between April to June, since weather conditions will be favorable and most of the hotels and homestays will be opened. If you have one week to explore you can follow the below guide.
Day 1 : Arrival
Arrival to Led city via choice of your mode (Flight or by road). You will get flights from all the major cities like Delhi, Chandigarh etc. Do not rush on day one rest and let your body acclimatize to the higher altitude. Explore local market and take is spectacular views of Led palace. Do not forget to try local food and buy souvenirs since rest of the week will be travelling.
Day 2: Leh to Sham Valley
Visit sham valley which also known as lower Indus valley of Ladakh and pay a visit to Likir Monastery, Alci Monastery and meganetic hill, as well as confluence of the Zanskar river and Indus river sangam. Best way to explore is via a hired bike but if you don't want to ride then hiring a taxi is no harm. Distance is 75 kms but the travel is filled with magnificent views.
Day 3: Led to Nubra Valley
Take a picturesque journey to the enchanting Nubra Valley and cross the Khardung La pass, one of the worlds highest motorable highways. Don't forget to visit Diskit Monastery and take in spectacular views Hunder sand dunes with double hump camel spotting. You will get multiple adventure activities at sand dunes like double hump camel rides, ATV rides, Paragliding etc. Make sure you spend night in Nubra valley since it will be very hectic to run back to Leh City.
Day 4 : Nubra Valley to Led
Explore scenic villages of Turtuk or Sumur in Nubra valley and then return to leh. Take rest and explore some local market and food. Time to buy anything which was missed on day one. Let the day go little smooth and easy.
Day 5: Leh to Pangong Tso
Enjoy the best view of Pangong Tso and shifting of hues of the lake and the surrounding mountains on the day of excursion. Pangong Tso lake is know for it's spectacular beauty. Camping near the lake is an option if you want to witness sunset or sunrise
Day 6: Leh Monasteries
Time to visit famous monasteries in and around Leh, including Thiskey monasteries, Hemis monasteries and Shey palace. Enjoy the spiritual atmosphere and find out some antique Buddhist artifacts. Take some rest and sink in with some amazing cafes in Led market.
Day 7: Leh to Khardung La to Leh
Take a drive to Khardung La Pass, the worlds highest motorable road and enjoy the stunning views of the Karakoram Range and adjacent valleys. Khardung La Pass is at 18380 feet from sea level, that's why it is reserve for the last day and your body will be acclimatize tile now to concur the pass. Return to Leh and enjoy the last evening in Leh with the best food in town.
