The Internet is full of options to travel in Himachal. You will find all Delhi, Haryana cars lined up to Manali over any long weekend. Let me tell you, over the last few years Himachal has come up with so many hidden gems in the form of Tirthan, Jibhi etc.
I have been lucky enough to visit them when there was not that rush around. Another such experience I had recently was in Kasauli.
Kasauli is a small hill station very close to Chandigarh. I happened to be in Chandigarh for a week. Kasauli is a 2.5-3hr drive away. This beautiful place gives you a glimpse of fresh flowers and nature all around. There are hardly any over crowded places and you can get all the sunrise point to yourself if you are on time.
We started at 3:30am precisely in the morning from Chandigarh on a scooty. The roads were free and we were freezing. As stated, Kasauli is a small hill station and comes on the way to Shimla from Chandigarh. There are a few checkpoints from where you can identify a road to Kasauli instead of directly going to Shimla.
We were targeting the sunrise point so we started off early. You can also plan a 2 day trip and come at your ease. But you may get traffic upwards as the day progresses.
Once you reach close to the sunrise point, there is a church. There is a small parking area where you need to park your vehicle. In case you have a stay inside the lane of sunrise point, you can take it over there.
From the parking area sunrise point would have been about 30mins walking. The road was pretty straight and not difficult. Unfortunately, for us it was too cloudy to capture the sun. But we were lucky enough to see the weather change. It was bloomy and really colorful all around. So many beautiful flowers that you may have never ever seen. Just a walk down the lane was so peaceful. Lucky are the people who get a chance to witness it every day.
There are other sunset points, monkey points too which you can visit if you are planning to stay.
Near the parking area, you have a number of shops for breakfast. We had our staple aloo Paratha and chai. We also witnessed a group of riders that came for a weekend.
Honestly, Kasauli is really peaceful and an escape to nature experience. Low number of shops and hustle bustle.
