Helicopter Services Make Travelling in Ladakh All the More Easier

Tired of the relentless winding roads? The increasing and decreasing altitude differences?

Well, this UT has outdone itself to preserve and increase its tourism. Ladakh has started Helicopter services, available not only to locals but to tourists as well, that too, at subsidized rates.

This service will be run by the Ladakh UT administration and will contribute to an increased flow in tourists, as the unimaginably beautiful Ladakh terrain will be accentuated from a height.

These services are now available in the sectors of Drass, Kargil, Leh, Padum, Lingshed, Nyerak and Zanskar.

This amazing initiative does depend heavily on uncontrollable factors such as weather conditions, and also availability of the helicopter and seats at the time desired by the passengers. These operations will have restrictions due to the heavily unbalanced terrain.

All those travelling have to carry a valid photo ID as the PNR number can’t be changed after it has been generated.

The maximum permissible limit per passenger for a single bag is 7kgs, and one cannot exceed the limits as the number of helicopters providing this service are limited.

So far, two choppers are in regular use, a five seater B-3 chopper and a Mi-172.
