We left our homes at 9 pm IST as we had to reach the Kalanagar Bus by 10.35 pm. We reached the bus stop by 10.00 pm and then waited for the bus to arrive. It was a City Flo Bus and came by 10.54 pm. We boarded the bus and reached Nashik the next day by 7.00 am.
We had breakfast till 7.30 am and had the choice of either Poha or Maggi. We then decided to start off with the trek by 8.00 am. It was quite empty when we started to climb and just a few groups had made their way before ours. We reached the summit by 10.30 am and decided to descend by 11.00 am.
On the way you have two Mandirs, 200 steps to climb to the top of the summit and the most famous 80 degree inclined steep steps to get to the door of the fort. I enjoyed this trek thoroughly mostly because of the people I met in the group, the monsoon - it was raining throughout, my soul was at peace because of the greenery around and everywhere there was nothing but cheers of Shivaji Maharaj and Sambhaji Maharaj.
I heard people from different parts of Maharashtra speak different dialects be it from Pune, Nashik or Akola and even interacted with a few - they thought I was a gujarati looking at my skin tone but when I start speaking in Marathi they all smile - very similar treatment to what I experienced in Jaipur actually that was another scene all together.
I had been invited by a student from my school - NCLPA and decided to take another student along with me. Perks of being the Founder I suppose - I also invited one of our ex teachers from the school they all started promoting NCLPA everywhere and I felt all nervous but I guess it alright.
I remember being all happy while descending and we reached by 2.00 pm and had lunch by 3.00.pm and left by 4.00 pm.
However I reached Mumbai only by 11.15 pm and got to the train station to head back home only by 11.58 pm.
Things I loved were surely the trek leader and his positive energy, the views enroute Harihar Fort and the calmness and the peace that the mountains bring!
Things I didn't like as much was that it was raining and I couldn't click as many pictures. Perhaps buying the plastic cover from the underground tunnel at CST station would be beneficial!
Here's to the start of the monsoon season with the first trek with Sole Mates Trekking group to Hari Har Fort! Har Har Mahadev! 🔱🙏😌
