From Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (Guwahati Airport) we hired a cab to Kamakhya Temple. We stayed in a lodge near the temple.
We went to shillong on the next day which took us 5hr because of a huge traffic jam. Normally it takes 3hr if the road stays clear. On the way we stopped at the Umiam Lake. We visited Don Bosco Museum & had our lunch there. Its provids a glimpse of the rich and multi-cultural lifestyles of the indigenous peoples of North East India. The Museum Sky Walk provides an exciting and exhilarating panoramic view of the Pine City of Shillong. We stayed in a homestay in the upper shillong.
We got up & had our lunch in the homestay & went to cherrapunji, the wettest place in Earth. We visited Seven Sister Falls, Mawsamai cave, Eco Park, Nohkalikai Falls, Wahkaba Falls & Ramkrishna Mission.
We left at 7'o clock in the morning for Mawlynnong village & Dawki. We had our breakfast on the way. At first we saw living root bridge near Mawlynnong village & then walk upward from there to Nowhet village tree house. We came back & sat on our car for the next spot which was Mawlynnong Village, the cleanest village in Asia. We had our luch there & then went for our last spot Dawki. We had boating ridding in Dawki (cost INR 700 per boat).
Our plan was to see shillong sightseeing on the day we came but we couldn't do that so we had our breakfast and went to do the local sightseeing. We planed to visit AirForce Museum, Elephant falls & shillong peak. In the Shillong peak there is a telescope through which the whole city could be seen. I and my cousins wore Khasi cloth which could be rented in the shillong peak. It was just afternoon so we planned to have our lunch in the Police Bazar & to explore the local life. We bought some local fruits from the bazar & then returned back to our stay.
Last day of our trip so we left Shillong & went for Guwahati. It was Independence Day so their was not so much traffic and we reached within 3hr(approx.) Our flight was at the night so we planned to visit some temples. First we visited Balaji temple then Umananda temple in the Bramhaputra river. We hired a boat for reaching Umananda temple which cost INR 100 Per person after a long bargaining . We then had our lunch in Paltan Bazar & went to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport for our flight back to Kolkata.
