A Kashmiri cyclist created a world record by cycling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in just eight days. A professional cyclist, Adil Teli, covered the 3,600 kilometers distance braving all odds such as traffic snarls, rough terrains and harsh climatic conditions. With his sheer determination, Adil kept riding and covered the distance in eight days, one hour and 37 minutes. With this remarkable journey, he broke the record of 17-year-old Om Mahajan who covered the same distance in eight days, seven hours and 38 minutes in 2020.

How did Adil cover 3,600 km in just 8 days?

The young cyclist from Narbal area of Budgam district, Adil started his journey on March-22 from Lal Chowk. Staring his journey from Srinagar, Adil pedalled through Sanant Nagar NH44, Qazigund, New Tunnel Banihal, Nashri Tunnel, Lakhanpur, Pathankot, Jalandar, Ludhiana, Delhi, Agra, Gwalior, Jhansi, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Gutti, Banglore, Madurai and finally reached his destination Kanyakumari on March 30.

After reaching Kanyakumari, Adil addressed the media and thanked his sponsors for providing him with the required gear. Thrilled to create a world record, the young cyclist also reserved a special mention for his crew members and people of Kashmir.

"Alhamdulillah! I am happy that I broke the previous Guinness record. I want to thank my sponsors Abraq Agro, who had provided all kits and things that I needed. I would not have been able to set this record without their support. I also thank my crew members and the people in Kashmir. Due to their support and good wishes, I became a Guinness world record holder," said Adil addressing media after completing his ride in Kanyakumari.

Before hitting the road, Adil trained in Amritsar for five months for the record attempt. There he underwent rigorous training at Guru Nanak Dev University under coach Rajesh for around five months. He was trained at different levels: for 10,000 kms of endurance and 20,000 kms. His application, which he submitted in December last year, got approved by Guinness World Recordswhich in March.

However, this is not his first achievement as the 23-year-old cyclist also holds the record for fastest cyclist to cover 440 km between Srinagar and Leh in just 26 hours and 30 minutes.
