Day 1

Day 1 of My Ladakh Trip

Me along with my friend Deepika Kannojiya  started this trip on 14-06-2022, from Delhi. Our Ist day Target was not fixed as it is too hot at that time and driving in 40 degrees was really difficult. So we started our day at 5:00 in morning from Delhi, our 1st stop was in Murthal for Breakfast around 6:30 in morning. After this We drive contnously upto Kurukshetra until our next break. After 10 in morning, it was too hot that I have to drive at speed of max 60kmph otherwise. Scooty can get stop if i drive continously at 80-90Kmph.

Around 12 noon  We were near to chandigarh,  as i have planned to take srinagar route while going to Leh, so we deciced that we will stop today at either at Ludhiana or Jalandhar. Around 2-3 pm we were in Ludhiana, and was very tired due to heat, so we decided to stay in Ludhiana and Explore it in evening.

After taking some rest, we went to Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib in Ludhiana, This place was so beautiful and calm . We ended our day after having langar in Gurudwara.

Day 2

Day 2 of our Ladakh Trip

On 2nd day our plan was to reach Jammu or Patnitop from Ludhiana.
We started our journey around 6 in the morning. We had crossed hardly 45kms and scooty suddenly stops on the highway in the midway near to phagwara around 10kms from Jalandhar. I have checked everything but was unable to find the fault and it was around 7 in the morning there was no mechanic shop open nearby. we decided to park our scooty at a nearby petrol pump. I tried to start the scooty. but nothing happen even there was no mechanic on petrol pump (Jaiswal Filling Station) So we waited for around 2hrs at petrol pump so that Near by TVS service centre employees come and pick up the scooty. In between those 2 hrs we managed to get a  delicious breakfast at a nearby gurudwara. It was a small gurudwara managed by a punjabi family and there is a small langar hall where they are serving hot and fresh parents to the sangat with achaar and chabeel. After the delicious breakfast, I went to the TVS Showroom and got my scooty repaired. They told me that The part (Tapete) of the scooty is loose due to over heating which make scooty stop suddenly. It took around 5-6 hrs to get it repaired. So we stayed at jalandhar on our 2nd day. In between that we explored Jalandhar City.

Day 3

Day 3 of Ladakh Trip

After a day rest day in Jalandhar, We started our journey on 3rd day around 7 in morning towards pathankot and then to patnitop. Weather was good, Road to Pathankot From Jalandhar was great. It hardly took 3 hours to complete the journey of 110Kms. We took our first break at a roadshide dhaba for tea and snacks. After that we started our journey towards udhampur and then to patnitop. You can take two road to udhampur from pathankot One is Via Jammu other is via Mansar Lake (which is the shorter one). So we stopped at near Mansar Lake to have tea and then again started our journey to Patnitop. After Reaching Udhampur, it started drizzling but we continue our journey and we reached the most beautiful tunnel i have ever seen ( Chenani-Nashri Tunnel) The tunnel is of 10 Km, it connects jammu to kashmir valley. After crossing Chenani- Nashri Tunnel, rain started heavily and we have to stop near Patnitop. Patnitop was bliss in rainy season.

Day 4

Day 4 of Ladakh Trip

After a wonderful time at Patnitop We started our journey towards Kashmir Valley ( Srinagar) via Jammu - Srinagar Highway. We left Patnitop around 8 am. The total distance we have to cover today was 170 Kms.  Srinagar Highway was in very good condition except at one place there was construction going on in between Ramban-Banihal Stretch. There was a long jam on  this route so we took a link road that is also a shorter route used mostly by locals. Use this route only on two wheeler. After Crossing Banihal we had a short break for lunch. The route to Srinagar is beautiful and scenic, after a while we crossed Quazikund Tunnel. From here the  total distance was 74 Kms left. After Quazikund you can see the army patrolling vehicles on the road and all the security cover for Amarnath Yatra Prepartions.
At the time we reached Srinagar, We came to Know that there is a petrol shortage going on in kashmir valley due to unknown reasons. So we had already refilled our tank and extra 10 litres of petrol on Jammu - Srinagar Highway. By the time we reached Srinagar it started drizzling. we spent the remaining day at Dal Lake and Lal Chowk Market.

Day 5

Day 5 of Ladakh Trip

After spending quality time in Srinagar, We left for our next destination Kargil, but due to heavy rain we have to stop at Sonmarg. We left Srinagar around 9 after refilling our petrol cans. It was raining lightly in the morning, So we were able to cover half of the distance very fast.
After Crossing Ganderbal Rains started heavily we slowed a little had a tea break and started our journey again in rain because we wanted to reach at least Sonmarg. The condition of the road between Srinagar and Sonamarg is a mix of good and excellent. The first 25 kilometers of the road to Sonamarg from Srinagar is a single-lane road with heavy two-way traffic. It passes through Nagbal, Ganderbal, and Wayul before it finally opens up and turns into a broad enough highway. A little after our break, our next break came shortly after at the scenic bridge where we stopped to click some photographs. While making short breaks like this we reached Sonmarg and Checked Into our hotel and spent the entire day in the beautiful Sonmarg Valley.

Day 6

Day 6 of Ladakh Trip

After a rainy day at Sonmarg, We left next day for the Kargil and the weather was still rainy but we managed to start. Today our goal was to reach kargil asap as there was heavy rain prediction and we have to cross Zozila pass. Total distance to be covered was 122 Km. We started around 8 in the morning, there was no rain at that time  just a little drizzling. After crossing baltal, We started our drive towards zozila pass, the road was sluggy at some places  due to yesterday rain, but we managed to cross it smoothly. At the start of zozila pass there is one shiv temple where army gives you kadha prasad just we got in gurudwara, While crossing zozila we witnessed a little traffic at one stretch. At one point it was all foggy, like we are crossing the roads in clouds. It was an amazing experience. After crossing zozila, We reached zozila zero point, We had a tea break and continued our journey towards kargil. At the end of Zozila pass there is one zozila war memorial, you can also visit that place. As the Zozila Tunnel work is going on there is some traffic at some stretches but still we managed to cross it smoothly. The next break was at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass. The road from Drass to Kargil  is very beautiful, after the break in drass We drive continuousl upto Kargil. We stayed in an old home stay (Wooden Bridge Home Stay). One has to cross the old wooden bridge over the Suru River to reach Home stay. We have reached around 2 in the noon, after that we spent our whole day in exploring kargil.
