Via Dibrugarh: Fly or take a train to Dibrugarh, then a taxi to Aalo (around 7 hours). The next day, continue by taxi to Mechukha (7-8 hours). Start early to account for road work delays.

Via Guwahati: Fly or take a train to Guwahati. From there, take the Lachit Express to Silapathar and a taxi to Aalo. Stay overnight in Aalo and drive to Mechukha the next day. Alternatively, take the Donyi Polo Express to Naharlagun, then a taxi to Itanagar, followed by another cab to Aalo. After a night halt, proceed to Mechukha.

Via Pasighat: If weather permits, a helicopter flies twice a week (Monday and Friday) from Naharlagun to Mechukha via Pasighat and Aalo under the UDAAN scheme. The approximate cost is Rs 3,500.

Best time to visit:

The best season to visit Mechukha is during non-monsoon periods, as the weather can be unpredictable. October - May are the best months as the state receives almost little rainfall and the weather is usually warmer during the summer than other months. However, October - February is when winter hits the state. It is best for the ones who enjoy chilled winter getaways.
