1. Explore the History: Start your journey by exploring the history of the place, beginning with the Cellular Jail. Don't miss the captivating light and sound show at Cellular Jail. Tickets for the show can only be booked online at onlineandaman.in.
2. Book Ferry Tickets in Advance: Book your tickets for Swaraj and Shaheed Dweep (formerly known as Havelock and Neil Islands) in advance, as ferries tend to fill up quickly. Government ferries offer affordable rates and stunning terrace views throughout the journey. Tickets can be booked online between 9 AM to 4 PM at dss.andaman.gov.in. Private ferries like Makruzz, Nautica, and Green Ocean can also be booked through their respective websites.
3. Catch the Sunrise from the blues: Ensure you book a ferry departing in the morning around 5:30 AM to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the ocean.
4. Rent Bikes in Advance: In Havelock and Neil Islands, it's advisable to rent bikes in advance as the number of bikes available is limited. Costs range from 500-600 per day without fuel.
5. Don't Miss Out on Direct Hotel/Resort Bookings: Before finalizing your stay, check the direct websites of hotels/resorts. You might stumble upon exclusive deals and discounts that are not available elsewhere. For instance, we secured a 7-day stay at TSG Resorts during our 10-day trip to Port Blair and Havelock Island.
6. Indulge in the serenity of eco-friendly resorts offering private beach views. Explore options ranging from budget to luxury accommodations along the stretch between Govind Nagar and Kala Pathar Beach.
7. Water Adventure Sports in Havelock: If you're interested in water adventure sports or scuba diving, Havelock Island is the ideal destination. Avoid North Bay Island due to crowds.
8. Try Local Delicacies: Don't forget to try the Rawa cake or pudding cake, known by different names in different places, from the small bakeries scattered across Andaman. Island Bakery in Port Blair is highly recommended. You'll also find a small bakery in Neil Island. We were so enamored with bakeries that we sought them out everywhere for small pastries to enjoy on the beaches, and that's how we discovered this local cake. Also, don't miss out on coconut water, a must-have almost every day during your trip. You'll also encounter various forms of chaat/papdi in different places, so be sure to try them all along with the tropical fruits.
9. Cherish Sunrises and Sunsets: Make sure to witness the magical sunrises and sunsets wherever you go in Andaman. They are truly unforgettable experiences.
These tips will help you make the most of your Andaman adventure!
