I think everybody knows about Darjeeling: Queen of Hills located in northern part of West Bengal. Its mesmerizing sunrises, untouched beauty of hills, tea garden warm welcoming locals make it a perfect travel destination for your holidays. "Darjeeling tea" is also famous all over the world. Lets know more details about this amazing place.

Day 1

We were 4 friends travelling to Darjeeling from Kolkata. We took a morning train to New Jalpaiguri which is very well connected to many place by rail. You can also catch Volvo buses from Kolkata. It took around 11 hours to reach New Jalpaiguri. It was around 7:00 Pm when we reached so we decided to spend night there itself.

Day 2

In morning, we hired hatchback to Darjeeling. It was raining heavily in Kalimpong and it was not good sign for us. We thought that we would not be able to enjoy much. It took 4 hrs to reach Darjeeling including one break for tea and breakfast. We encountered Darjeeling Himalayan Railway which is UNESCO world heritage site. The train runs from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling which takes 7 hrs but you would really love the ride.

Our stay was booked in Hotel Tower View which is located on hilltop side. The location was pretty good and the view was mesmerizing from the rooms. After check in, we freshened up and got ready to explore nearby places. The rain did not stop so we bought umbrella to utilize time in visiting nearby places. We started walking towards mall road and M.G. road. It was cloudy everywhere and we could not clearly see anything from view point near M.G. road. One can clearly see "Kanchenjunga- third highest peak in the world" in clear sky. There is a good market near MG road where you can buy good stuffs at low price so we bought some gifts. While returning we went to a famous cafe known as Glenary's cafe which is nice cafe. You can try their bakery stuff as it was really delicious. It was all for the day.

Day 3

We were lucky on the 2nd day in Darjeeling as the rain stopped, but the weather did not clear. We booked a car for the day to take us all the places in and around Darjeeling. The driver was local and took us to Darjeeling rope way, St. Paul School, St. Joseph college, Happy Valley Tea Estate, Himalayan Tibet Museum, Rock Garden and Tenzing rock. All places were amazing and unque in the own way. St. Joseph college and St Paul school were the place where movies "Yaariyan" and "Main Hoon Na" were shot respectively. I liked Happy Valley Tea Estate most because it is lovely place located outside main town. The staff are very welcoming and will explain different types of tea and their process. You would really love the tea that they will serve in taste program organised by them. Rock garden was also beautiful place with so many scenic beauty. This places looks most beautiful in rainy days only.

Day 4

We wanted to visit Tiger Hill in the morning to look mighty Kanchenjunga and sunrise, but the clouds all over the sky ruined our plan. We were hopeless for day 4 also because of weather. It was morning on the day 3 and we were able to see surrounding clearly from our windows so we got exited. The clouds were gone and the hills were clearly visible in the ray of sun. So we went for morning walk to capture some photos of mighty Mt. Kanchenjunga covered with snow. The peak looks golden in color during sunrise as well as sunset. This day made our trip successful as we visited and seen everything planned.

It was time to say Goodbye to this awesome place and we left at around 1:00 Pm for New Jalpaiguri. Our driver told us that he can take us to Mirik lake and Nepal border for which we agreed. We took the next stop at Mirik lake and then at Pashupatinath (Nepal). Mirik lake was really a nice place for its natural environment and pleasant climate. You can also enjoy boat ride in Mirik lake.
