Dakshinachitra, Chennai offers a glimpse of the culture and heritage of the bygone era in South India. It’s by far the most different tourist destination I have seen in Chennai.
Dakshinachitra Museum describes cultural heritage of South India states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andra Pradesh, Kerala.
Entry time would be everyday 10am to 6pm. The Dakshinachitra entry fee for Indians is 100 RS, for foreigners is 250Rs, for children 30Rs and for students it's 50-75 RS. Believe me it's worth visiting Dakshinachitra Museum and knowing about culture.
Dakshinachitra will welcome you with beautiful flowers and Rangoli which will give us homely feeling.
Tamil Nadu
We can feel the "chukki mane" or "star home" and there we can even learn pottery.
Karnataka
The most beautiful house can be seen in Karnataka. We can even see how the ilkal saree is weaved.
Kerala
God's own country Kerala has been replicated in a beautiful way at Dakshinachitra.
Andra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh is one of the cultural states among the southern states of india. Charismatic house with a proper Andra kitchen exhibits their variety in flavours.
Added advantage
Dakshinachitra is a paradise for shopohollics. All antique jewelry and decoratives are available with little high rate as compared to market price. So shop accordingly.
Snacks and beverages are available.
Be it any climate carrying umbrella is my suggestion.
