With decent fitness and willpower, here's how to make the coming year a 12-month-long adventure in which you can go for some of the best treks in India.
Trekking in India in January: Brahmatal Trek
Brahmatal Trek Details: This 6-day long trek is one of the very few treks in India open during winters and hence is a coveted route for this season. For first-timers, this is the best beginners' trek that you can start your year with. The absence of haze during winter opens before trekkers the wide surreal views of the snow-covered meadows of the bugyals (meadows) of Garhwal and the mighty peaks around the route rising as high as 7,000ft.

Trekking in India in February: Sandakphu Phalut Trek
Sandakphu Trek Details: The Sandakphu trail wastes very little time in taking you closest to the views of the stunning Kanchenjunga, the third highest peak in the world. You walk parallel to the mighty Himalayan family, featuring Mt Makalu and Mt Lhotse, 4th and 5th highest peak in the world respectively. On the third day, trekkers cross Kalipokhri, the black pond, which is yet another highlight of this trail.
One of the best treks in India, Sandakphu is also seen as a prep trek for the more difficult Goechala trek in the same region.

Trekking in India in March: Deoriatal-Chandrashila Peak Trek
Deoriatal Trek Details: The Deoriatal-Chandrashila route can be an incredible learning experience for first-timers. The climb to the summit can be an introduction to technical climbing on snow. The highlights of this stunning trail are the surreal campsites dotting the route. At Deoriatal, trekkers camp beside the sparkling oval lake, with stunning views of the Chaukhamba and Kedar Dome. A high-altitude trekking experience is required since the trek continues for 8 long days, where sometimes trekkers are required to walk for long hours. The trekkers on the trail come face to face with Mt Nanda Devi that stands tall before them. The thrill doesn't end there, as on this route every high altitude summit of the Garhwal ranges unfolds itself one by one. For lovers of the mountains, the changing shades of forest cover is a sight to die for.
