I started my trip from Udupi in Karnataka and ended it in Udupi again. Trip was special because we took 02 differents routes on our way out and back to Udupi.
The jungles and the elephants were the highlight of the entire trip.
Tip for all: Please carry mosquito repellents and hiking shoes and a small bag of salt (which is help in getting rid of leeches)
The Krishna Temple is worth seeing along with the nearby beaches and then drive to Coorg. To go to Coorg from Udupi you can hire a car and it take 5 hours by road
This place is sooo green and fresh. Its also a land of coffee and pepper plantations. There are number of water falls to see and also a must visit is the Dubare Elephant Training Camp. The Buddhist Monastery is worth a visit. Please carry mosquito repellents
The Mysore Palace is breathtaking and is en route to Madumalai National Park. Hence a stopover to see the palace is must. If anyone is interested...its the best place to buy silk saris.
Masinagudi or Madumalai National Park is the home to the Asiatic elephants, the tigers and the bisons. There are tours operated by the forest officials who take us for a ride in the jungle to view these mighty beasts. Please carry mosquito repellents. The best place to stay at Masinagudi is at the Bamboo Banks Farm & Guest House.
Coonor and Ooty are 02 towns some 20 kms apart. Coonoor is the land of beautiful Tea Gardens and spices and natural oils. Ooty is a town of lakes and also a must visit is the Chocolate Museum. Travellers should also take a ride on the Toy Train running between Coonoor & Ooty, the journey is very scenic.
This town is also know as Calicut. The beaches and temples are the highlight of this town. This town is also the first place where Vasco Da Gama had landed for trade from Europe. There is a direct train which will take you back to Mangalore(40 kms from Udupi). There is a direct train which takes us back to Udupi
