It is a paradise on an affordable budget that will leave you mesmerized.

These few points will be handy while you plan your trip to Andaman.

1. Carry a BSNL sim if you wish to stay connected because the other networks don’t have signal on the island.

2. Check if your resort offers WIFI beforehand if you wish to be connected.

3. Pre-book your ferry’s and accommodations to avoid last minute hassles.

4. Carry liquid cash because cards are not accepted in most places.

5. Avoid spending too much time in Port Blair unless you want to explore the history of Andaman.

6. Don't fall prey to the day trip visit to Havelock or Neil island. You will be lead only to crowded places like Radhanagar Beach.

7. Spend atleast 1 night in Havelock or Neil Island to acquire a complete island experience and discover the beauty.

8. Hindi is the main mode of communication in the island.

9. Prefer Elephanta Beach in Havelock over North Bay Beach or Jolly Buoy Island in Port Blair for discovering the underwater world.

10. Try going to Baratang Island from Port Blair for experiencing a boat ride amongst the mangroves.

11. Try sea walk, scuba diving and snorkeling because all three give a different experience in discovering the underwater world.

12. You don’t need to know swimming for snorkeling. You will be given a float and the instructor will be beside you the entire time.

13. People will bombard you with questions before your sea walk, just ignore them unless you have some big medical issue.

14. Carry an umbrella because island weather is unpredictable.

The entry cost is 30₹ and if you want to watch the sound and light show, then you need to pay 50₹ extra.

There are 2 shows daily, one at 6:45 pm (Hindi) and other at 7:45 pm (Hindi/English).

If you decide to visit this place then do try the chenna aloo papdi chaat outside the jail. (30₹)

It's a small beach surrounded by coconut trees. It gets crowded during the evenings due to it’s easy proximity from the city.

We were lucky to catch a glimpse of our first island sunset here.

Day 2

We boarded a ferry ( Mark Marina ) to cover North Bay and Ross Island.

This island welcomed us with turquoise blue crystal clear water.

You need to pay 10₹ as island maintenance fee when you step in.

It offers ample activities to discover the underwater world like scuba (3500₹), snorkeling(500₹ for half mask and 1000₹ for full mask), sea walk(3500₹), glass bottom boat ride(500₹) and submarine ride(3000₹).

We did sea walk here and it was an awesome experience.

There are provisions for washing and changing in the island.

Visit this island only if you intend to glance the half destroyed structures from the British era or if you intend to click haunted photographs.

You need to pay 30₹ as island maintenance fee before you step in.

This island can either be explored by foot or you can hop onto a battery operated car (70₹).

I would recommend you to take a walk because there is nothing much to explore so deep into the island unless you’re very much interested in history.

While you decide to step into this island, Do try the malai kulfi here. (30₹)

We wanted to try the bamboo cottage for our today’s stay with Megapode.

We preferred the sea view room to this because we had to descend too many steps to reach this cottage and also the view from the balcony was not great.

Day 3

We boarded our ferry ( Green Ocean 2 ) from Port Blair to Havelock Island.

NOTE - Do arrive at the jetty atleast 45 mins in advance because you need to do few security checks before boarding onto the ferry.

NOTE - Do remember to carry your original id proofs along.

It was a 2 hour 20 mins journey. The ferry provides lots of entertainment to the passengers making the journey a memorable one.

We checked in here and I highly recommend this to everyone.

It is a beautiful resort overlooking a flat tidal beach with white sand and turquoise blue water. You can walk in as much inside during the high tides and get a glimpse of the underwater plants during the low tides.

The resort offers wifi, complementary breakfast and also bikes/scooters on rent to explore the island.

It is a beautiful beach where you can unwind and relax all day on the white sands with a view of the turquoise blue water. Do sip on a coconut while you lay on the sand.

I loved this beach more than Radhanagar beach and I highly recommend it.

It is an overrated beach and attracts too much crowd due to it’s popularity.

Try catching the sunset here if you chance to visit this beach.

The only best part for me was the bengali style papdi chaat outside for 30₹.

Day 4

Get enrolled with dive india or barefoot scuba or any other diving school of your choice and go for an early morning dive.

Get a glimpse of the sunrise from the beach while you stay in the island.

It was way better than all the other beaches. It is my personal favourite. It has water activities and is less crowded when compared to North Bay beach.

You can reach this place either by a motor boat (20mins) or by a 45 mins trek via the mangroves.

It offers activities like sea walk(3500₹), snorkeling, glass bottom boat, banana ride, sofa ride and water scooter. ( All rides 600₹)

We got a complementary snorkeling by the sea grass team. They booked all our ferry’s and took care of our transportation within the island. They were very helpful. If needed they will book your accommodations too. You can reach them: Office: 03192 - 241589. Mob & Whatsapp: 9474258173, 9933277866

Try exploring the mangroves hidden behind the beach if you visit this place because it gives you an Amazon forest feel. You can spot moving roots and shells if you’re very observant.

You have provisions for changing and washing in the island.

We got back to our resort and spent more time in the private beach before heading back to port blair.

Stayed the night at Megapode Resort.

Relaxed and walked around the island for one last glimpse before heading back home.

Day 5

With lots of memories we bid goodbye to the gorgeous island and got back to chennai.

bye bye gorgeous
