Are you planning an Andaman itinerary for 5 days and wondering what all places to visit in Andaman and Nicobar in 5 days? Don't worry; I've got you covered.

Andaman and Nicobar, an archipelago in the Bay of Bengal, is a paradise for beach lovers, adventure seekers, and history enthusiasts. With its turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, and rich cultural heritage, Andaman and Nicobar offers a unique travel experience that is hard to match.

But with so many attractions to choose from, it can be overwhelming to plan an Andaman itinerary for 5 days.

In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at some of the best places to visit in Andaman and Nicobar in 5 days, so you can make the most of your time and experience the best this beautiful archipelago has to offer.

Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or a bit of both, these destinations will surely leave you spellbound. So, let's dive in and explore the top attractions of Andaman and Nicobar that you can cover in just 5 days!

Before You Book Your Tickets

First, before even thinking about booking your flight to Port Blair, I would advise you to do proper research about everything; and I mean EVERYTHING! From the ferry timings to the water sports, from the best islands to the place to stay, and most importantly, every island's proximity to Port Blair.

Because the biggest constraint on this trip will be that you will travel via waterways rather than land most of the time. And so you'll have to prepare your Andaman trip itinerary according to the ferry timings. And ferries leave from Port Blair. So you'll have to plan your trip accordingly.

Now, I am someone who loves to do travel planning and always do my own research well in advance before booking anything. So I have tried to include all the points and answers to queries in this post that one can have while researching or planning a trip to Andaman and Nicobar.

Let me know in the comments if I missed anything or if you want any additional information 🙂

Important Destinations & Time Taken to Reach There

Port Blair to Havelock Island: 1.5 - 2 hours

Kalapather beach to Radhanagar beach: 20 minutes (approx.)

Port Blair to Neil Island: 1.5 hours (approx.)

Port Blair to Baratang Island: Take out a whole day for this tour 🙂

Note - Cellular jail is closed on Mondays and public holidays.

Places Covered in 5 Days

1. Port Blair (Cellular Jail, Mt. Harriet National Park, Corbyn's Cove beach)2. Havelock Island (Kalapather beach, Radhanagar beach)3. Ross Island, North Bay Island4. Jolly Buoy Island, Chidiya Tapu5. Baratang Island (Limestone Caves)

Total Cost of the trip - INR 15,000 to INR 20,000*

* The cost I mentioned is very cheap considering the number of days and activities we did. We stayed in a military guest house, so our accommodation and food were managed cheaply and affordable.

But otherwise, this particular itinerary would cost somewhere around INR 25k-30k. Also, none of the costs mentioned here includes the cost of flights since it will vary depending on the place you're coming from and the time of the year. So all costs mentioned here include the cost of local food, accommodation, and local traveling.

About Andaman & Nicobar Islands

The Andaman and Nicobar are an Indian archipelago in the Bay of Bengal. There are roughly 300 islands in the Andaman and Nicobar Archipelago, of which only 36 are inhabited. So naturally, you can't visit all 36 islands in 5-6 days. I know people who made 3-4 trips to Andaman to cover all the islands.

So, I'll be writing 3 separate itineraries (check out How to plan your trip to Andaman and Nicobar Islands?) based on the number of days that will include the best possible destinations that can be covered in that particular itinerary. Starting with the one that I did!

Day 1

I traveled to Andaman & Nicobar Islands from New Delhi in the month of March with friends. We reached Port Blair at 12:30 pm and didn't go to our hotel in Birchgunj to save 1.5 hours and decided to go straight away to our first destination.

But before that, we had to book a ferry for the next day to Havelock Island. We booked our ferry from for Port Blair to Havelock for Day 2 and Havelock to Port Blair for Day 3. And around 2 pm, we left for our first destination - Mt. Harriet National Park. Check out the schedule of other ferry services here.

Mt. Harriet

Mt. Harriet is the highest peak in the South Andaman region. It is a viewpoint from where you can see North Bay, Neil, Ross, and Havelock Island on a clear day.

To reach Mt. Harriet, catch a ferry from Chatham Island that will drop you at Bamboo flat. From Bamboo flat, you can either trek to the peak or hire a jeep or take your own vehicle (yes, your car also travels along with you on the ferry). On the way lies the view of the lighthouse of North Bay Island, which is printed on the INR 20 note. So make sure to carry one with you!

After that, we left for Corbyn's Cove beach. It is 8 km from the city center, where you will get a variety of water sports activities like banana rides, jet skis, etc to the Viper or Snake Island. You can also skip this beach if you're on a tight schedule.

Cellular Jail

Afterward, we headed to the famous Cellular Jail and watched the light and sound show about India's Heroic freedom struggle. And then, finally, we headed to our hotel after dinner. We stayed at a military guest house in Birchgunj, 7 km from PB airport.

Day 2

We boarded our ferry at 7:15 am from Port Blair and reached Havelock Island at 8:45 am ( cost- INR 1407 per head per side ). After reaching Havelock, our first task was to book a slot for Scooba Diving and a place to stay for the day.

We decided to book Scooba for the next day in the early morning as our ferry had to leave at 9:30 am in the morning, and we kept our Day 2 to explore Havelock Island.

After booking Scooba from Diver's Club (we made sure that our Scooba spot was near to the place from where we had to board our ferry the next day) and rooms at the Arpita penthouse, we hired two scooters and left for our first beach of the day.

Kalapather Beach

Kalapather Beach was 3 km from the Arpita penthouse and took us 10-15 minutes to reach. I have never been so amazed and satisfied when I reached Kalapather beach. Its crystal clear water and natural ruins make it one of the best beaches in the Andaman & Nicobar islands.

We used to have coconut water and malaayi for lunch because the food in Andaman is very spicy, and nothing can beat a coconut full of water in that scorching weather (yes, the temperature was way more than the average temperature of Delhi in the month of March).

Radhanagar Beach

After getting refreshed and having a good photo session, we left for the 2nd beach of the day, the 7th best beach in the world- Radhanagar beach. We had a good reviving bathing session there, and before returning, we booked a place to chill at night, which offered DJ night too.

Then we had dinner near our resort, changed, and left to party at Havelock Island beach resort. We came back to our resort at around 11:30 pm and slept as we had to wake up early morning for Scooba.

Day 3

Scooba Diving

We woke up early in the morning and headed to Diver's Club, which was just 2 km (Govindnagar beach) from our penthouse and very near to where we had to board our ferry back to Port Blair.

Scooba will cost you around INR 3000 to INR 5000 depending upon your negotiating skills 😀 (BTW, we did it for INR 2500 :P). Next, we boarded our ferry at 9 am, reached Port Blair at 10:30 am, were picked up by our driver, and rushed to Marine Park- from where we had to take our next ferry to Ross Island, which is 3 km from Port Blair.

Ross Island

Ross Island used to be the residential headquarters of the British colony and now holds the ruins of some churches, graveyards, and the Chief Commissioner's house. You can also see hundreds of deer all together at once there.

Pro tip - Explore it on foot, and don't do an e-rickshaw.

You will be given the time till which you will have to return to the boat. After exploring Ross Island, you will be taken to North Bay Island by the same boat. North Bay Island is famous for the sea walking and lighthouse you saw on the way to Mt. Harriet.
