I experienced the magical charm of the New Year's Dawn for few years and it conjured all sorts of symbolism in my mind. In the past two years, I made it my point to watch the first dawn of the year from a new place. And the perfect location of the Indian Pennisula made the experience ever-enriching and novel each year.
Year by year a completely new and enchanting scene unravelled before me in the sky at dawn. These spectacular sunrises rendered a symbolic significance to the new year and make one awe at the Paradoxical constant of variable Nature.

YEAR 2017,
SUNRISE AT KALAPATHHAR BEACH, HAVELOCK ISLAND, ANDMANS.
Location Alert : Bay of Bengal
I am a beach person through and through but I could hear the hills calling when I saw this mesmerising sunrise from Kalapathhar Beach at Havelock Island, Andmans. The clouds covered the horizon barring the view beyond in the Bay of Bengal as a mighty mountain range. (Yes, Nature gives a daily dose of paradoxical surprise if you have an eye for it.)

And suddenly the Sun splurged it's lava from beyond the hills of clouds and dispersed the mirage that the clouds were creating posing as the hills (paradoxical again.)

YEAR 2018
KANYAKUMARI, THE SOUTHERN TIP OF INDIA
Location Alert : The confluence of three seas : Arabian Sea, Bay Of Bengal, Indian Ocean.

There is something symbolic when you open your eyes to the first sunrise of the year which is dawning from behind the 133 Feet tall statue of the poet Thiruvalluvar and Swami Vivekananand Memorial Rock after scaling the entire length of the country to its southern most tip of peninsular India

The sky here, changes colours spreading the spectrum of the sun in its full glory across the sky with each minute at dawn.

It is popularly believed that it is at the confluence of the Arabian Sea, Bay of  Bengal and the Indian Ocean. One can differentiate the three waters of sea green, deep blue, and turquoise blue.  Sitting on the shore watching the confluence of the three seas along with the dispersion and merging of sun's light at dawn makes one reflect upon the philosophical significance of the nature's magical tricks that she performs daily to educate us into a lesson of peaceful coexistence; of unity in diversity; of leaving behind our different wavelengths and waves for ensuring life yet preserving the variety on the inside.

YEAR 2019,
KERELA BACKWATERS.
Location: Arabian Sea

The groves of towering Coconut trees lining the backwaters and the shore create a unique landscape by which Kerela is typically recognised. The sun is a late riser beyond the thick canopy of these trees. However, it's morning colours reflected in the backwaters become a mirror for the Sky that never fail to mesmerize.

And when the Sun finally rises from beyond the Coconut groves it shimmers brightly against the watery mirror. When you see that even the Sky is open to introspection and comfortable in its paradoxically beautiful rippled image, you learn to accept yourself and imbrace your inner beauty.

P.S. In a country that is recognised by it's cultural, racial and historical diversity, nature's symbolism is beautifully illustrated against the canvas of the sky at dawn.
