I guess I just figured out something to ease the pain mentioned in the title. I hope this helps my readers when stuck in a similar kind of a situation.

Working in a private sector, getting the leaves approved and syncing it by booking an under budget flight to home for Diwali. Sometimes seems like comprehending rocket science. All the private employees out there hats off to you guys for your unmatchable sync sense.

Out of all the hastle I managed to book a flight to Jaipur from Pune via Ahmedabad {considering the 10 hour halt}. I reached Ahmedabad by 01:00 am. Taking short naps, hearing Gujarati chatters all over, repetitive gaze at clocks and roaming in the airport premises somehow killed 5 hours for me.

It was the first time I was in the mostly considered capital of Gujarat i.e. Ahmedabad. Hence, I thought of a peek a boo. Also known as the “Boston city of India”, being a traveler cum blogger I had read a lot about this ‘Manchester of the east’ and wished to visit it someday.

So, I stepped out and enquired a few autowalas about the must visit nearby places keeping in mind the constraint that was time. Where I met Mr. Praveen bhai, a decent human being he listed me a few places like patel museum, Sabarmati riverfront etc. I enquired the charges he will incur and informed him about the time constraint as I had to board the flight for Jaipur. “Madam, tension nahi lene ka meter se chalenge aur time pe ayenge”. I bought his confidence and gave it a go.

On the way I told him about my passion of travelling and blogging. I did explained him both the terms. There we came across an autowala who was waving his hand in despair. Praveen bhai stopped by and enquired, “su thayu?”(what happened). The man was carrying a lady with an emergency medical situation to a hospital and was left with no gas in his vehicle. Praveen bhai wanted to help them but reluctant to ask, as he was occupied I nodded him to take the woman to the hospital. After dropping the lady to the hospital, with a big smile he turned around, “madam achha karne walo k sath accha hi hota hai.”

Day 1

My then tour guide Praveen bhai and me went to visit the "Dada harir step well". Not to mention the human art of engineering, it is very well designed and 500 years old. A lovely architecture to capture in snaps I would say.

The stepwell was built in 1485 by Dhai Harir, a household lady of Mahmud Begada according to the Persian inscription in the stepwell. She was the superintendent of the royal harem.

There was a group of students from some fashion institute doing a photo shoot. It was a delight to watch them in their lovely designed dresses.

Behind the step well there is a very old and beautiful mosque known as 'Bai Harir Sultani'. Bai Harir Sultani, the chief officer of the female quarters of the Sultan Mehmood begda of Gujarat. Founded Harirpur at this place and constructed a mosque, Here in AD 1500.

After spending nearly an hour and clicking lots of pictures, we headed towards the next destination that was "Vallabh bhai memorial museum". This place is a delight to watch and showcases the strong pillars and ideas behind the strong foundation of our country.

Thereafter we moved to the lovely Sabarmati river front. It is said that Sabarmati crosses Ahmedabad from the center. But I guess, Its beauty certainly crosses the center of a person’s heart.

Sparing half an hour at the river front, Praveen bhai took me to a place famous for gujrati farsaan(snacks). To my true belief gujratis do have some crazy dangerous snack names, fafdaa, dhokla, khandwaa, theplaa. They are as tasty as dangerous as they sound. I don’t know but I think I did developed a tongue for gujrati food. I tried dhokla, fafda, jalebi etc. and it was good.

Then we went back to the airport on time thanks to Praveen bhai’s driving skills. I really wished I had more time so that I could explore the city to its very depth. Would you believe, the places I have visited, just in the 10 km vicinity of the airport.

Last but not the least I would like to thank Mr. Praveen bhai who is a great human by heart, a nice driver, well equipped with facts tour guide with good photography skills and a food lover. Without whom this trip to various places wouldn’t have been possible in such a short span of time.
