About Shinkula Pass

Shinkula Pass is a high mountain pass which connects Himachal to Ladakh. It has brought Himachal and Ladakh closer by around 600 km! The Pass is located at a height of more than 16500 feet above sea level.

The road from Darcha to Shinkula Pass was constructed in 2015 by the Border Roads Organization (BRO). However, this road is accessible only in summer and remains covered in snow during winters. To improve the accessibility, the Government has proposed to construct an all weather tunnel at Shinkula Pass, which will be the word's longest and highest tunnel. It will be 4.25 km long and located at a height of 16580 feet, just below Shinkula Pass.
