Day 1

Whenever You visit Malaysia, not the peninsular one, the West Malaysia, which includes 2 territories called Sabah and Sarawak in the island of Borneo (which contains more than 50 % of Indonesia), one should visit a small country but a rich one for a trip of 3 days. The Name is Brunei Darussalam.

Most of us know of the Brunei Kingdom due to the fame of their king, but not everyone knows where it is located. We can find this split country in the Northern part of Borneo Island. Yes, the country is split by the narrow strip of Malaysia coming in between. Brunei's visa should be taken before hand for Indians. It is not that hard to get.

Day 2

After getting down at the single airport near Bandar Seri Bagawan, you will come to know that there aren't many transport systems across the city like country. Though the country has many districts, tourists and travelers alike are mostly concentrated along the capital. Compared to the other countries sorrounding it, the prices of hotels are also costlier. But I found a good hostel which is very near to the city's most tourist places, Ae Backpacker's Hostel. It is comparatively cheap and the host is awesome (he dropped us at the airport on the way back).

If we have 2 days to travel to across Brunei, I would suggest one day to get to know the City and second day to a forest trip across the Malaysian borders.

The most famous locations in BSB are, Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque which is like the National symbol of Brunei. There is also a lot of museums related to Petroleum. And Kampong Ayer, a water floating village and crossing it is the Bridge of Brunei as shown in the cover page.

Day 3

I fixed a tour with the hostel's owner to go to Ulu Temburong NP. As told before, not many public transport is present. So it is better to go on a group tour. I was joined with Korean, Japanese and Chinese people. We crossed on the speed boat from BSB to UTNP through Malaysian Jungle. We had a mini breakfast and in a tour car we went to the NP. There we were split into 2 groups on a long boat which btw can sink if u move too much or lost its balance.

After few minutes you will be trekking to reach the Canopy walk through the muddy staircase and forest trek. It has only 700 steps. But travelling continuously for so many days had a toll on me. I finally made to the top and then have to climb the large towers to go to the top. After completing that and happily climbing down with a little bit of slipperies, we reached a waterfall with a natural fish spa.

After getting bit by the fish, we had an option of going tube rafting across the river to reach the central office of the UTNP. And then we came back as same as we entered the NP.

Finally, I checked off Brunei from my travel list while I was on transit.

By the end of this trip, I completed totally 14 countries and 19 territories (according to TCC). And am ready for my next trip to Myanmar.
