I have started to find destinations in South India very similar to each other. In the last 4 years, I must have been to all these hill stations multiple times. So, when we started to plan a trip to Gandikota, I got really excited.
Gandikota is unique in itself. Even though the landscape is rocky and very similar to Hampi, the gorge view is what sprinkles the unique flavor.
I visited Gandikota for just 2 days. It was a weekend trip and frankly, Gandikota doesn’t need more than 2 days. It’s a train , bus journey from Chennai, 400 KMS.
My plan is to cover belum caves and gandikota for the weekend.
I started from Chennai via Mumbai mail. And got down at a station called tadipatri after a 6 hours travel. I finished my spicy andhara breakfast and got a bus which goes to belum caves.
It took 1 hour for me to reach belum cave. From the main road we have to walk a 500 m towards the ticket counter. I reached up the counter and got the ticket and will all excitement I entered into the cave.
It was a beautiful cave made up of natural water stream. And without wasting any time I roamed around the entire cave. For around 2 hours.
In-between I saw a group of travellers who are from tamilnadu travelling to gandikota after the cave Visit. And we had a good conversation post introduction they wished me to take me to gandikota along with them in their car.
So post cave visit we started towards gandikota the great canyon of India.
We all reached gandikota before the sunset to pitch our tent in a good place.
The place in the weekends are too crowdy.
After all the tired and heavy dinner the previous night I slept like hell and woke at 5 in the morning to see the sunrise.
And I planned to have a bath in the penna river stream( suggested for who knows good swim) which require a small down trek.
I had a down trek and had a beautiful bath in the river stream for more than an hour. And then I started to roam around the fort for the next few hours since I had a bus booked from jammalamadugu to Chennai at 7.30 pm.
After 3-4 hours of fort roaming and lunch, I started towards jammalamadugu with all beautiful memories.
