So this trip was all about our first exposure to the world and by this I meant first time out of our state. Yap it was hell of an experience because we all teenagers’ friends went out of the state all by ourselves we were too excited.
Short story a day before the trip starts..!!!
As we were planning for a trip but we didn’t know where to and out of nowhere one of our friend came out with a suggestion of a place called Udaipur "the city of lakes”. At that point of time we didn’t know how it’s going to be but it turn out to be one of the best experience of our life. Like a saying one never forgets his/her first bf/gf same goes to our first trip to Udaipur. As if now we had the place. He had plans for our stay and the place where to visit, all the things where done as we thought but as I mentioned earlier we all were teenagers we forgot about the whole traveling part....!!!. Now the biggest challenge is getting confirm train tickets because it was a peak season but unfortunately we didn’t get confirm train tickets so we thought god is not with us but some of us were atheist and like some of us relied on god, the atheist one came out with plan B i.e. switch to bus for traveling and this was final we were going on a bus.
As you can see we were really determinant about the trip we were not in a position to let it go. so here it goes booking of the hotel was done at the earliest but as the bus was new option we haven’t booked the tickets. Now the best part came to realization that in 5 of our friends three were big fan of Amir khan and at that time dangal was released so instead of booking bus tickets we booked tickets of dangal and at 8:00 at the evening our movie gets over and we came to realization that we haven’t booked our tickets it was a frantic moment for all of us and the best part is that one of our friend stood up in a middle of movie because he didn’t get confirmation from his parents for the trip so he went home and instead of focusing on this situation we rather focused on the movie as I told we were Amir khan fans. On the same night that friend of us also got the permission for the trip and we booked all the five tickets, thank god and we were all ready for the trip.
THE BEGINING OF OUR FIRST JOURNEY
Dec 24, 2016 (11:00 am)
So our journey started from durg railway station, four of us gathered there and headed to Nagpur, we booked our bus from Nagpur from where we are expecting one of our friends so that he can join us. From Durg Station we took general ticket till Nagpur and traveling in general coach was bed of hard rock for us.
So our bus was at 9:00 PM from Nagpur to Udaipur via Indore, keeping this at mind we have chosen the train Bilaspur-Pune SF Express, so that we can reach earlier but unfortunately our train was running late. We were expecting it to reach Nagpur till 6:45pm but reached at 8:50 PM, boarding place of bus was at a distance of 5 minutes from Nagpur station and we got the bus. Fifth friend was there only holding the bus as we were late and after getting in the bus we were relieved. On 25Dec we reached indore in the morning, in the 6-hour halt, we took a little trip around the city and again in the evening we took the bus from Indore to Udaipur and the journey continues…
When we reached it was 3:00 am we all were shivering because it was really cold out there in the month of December and we were not in our warm clothes. we took auto to our hotel “Bunkyard Hostel”.
it was 4:00 am when we reached, strangely there was no one in the front office area and we were all alone in the front area, calling for hotel staff after some time we heard a sound came from upstairs saying come up it was the staff of hotel, as we reached earlier we didn’t know about check in rules so there were no empty rooms till 10:00 am in the morning so he told us to adjust ourselves in waiting area and we slept.
As we were excited for the trip we woke up at 8:00 in the morning waited for the rooms to get emptied, after getting the keys we got freshened up and ready to explore the city.
So Then we decided to turn the 3-day trip into 3 parts.
On the first day, Udaipur City, then on the second day the outer area of Udaipur and then on the third day we will visit the City Palace.
On the spot we booked a car that would make us see the city, and we spent Rs 4000 to 5000 for 2 days.
So our trip started in Udaipur with seeing the
The showcases of antique and heritage cars. It is a treat for all the automobile lovers to pay a visit to a place filled with fascinating vehicles. this museum was inaugurated on 15th February 2000 by Lord Montagu of Beaulieu . The founder of National Motor Museum England. The Vintage and Classic Car Museum is a property of HRH Group, hence owned by Raja Shri Arvind Singh Ji Mewar. The cars in their museum are quite rare that would not be easily found anywhere.

Walking around we started feeling hungry, then our driver told us that there is a famous restaurant here Krishna dal baati, you should try it and we went.
This beautiful lake bordered by hills and lies to the north of Lake Pichola. This artificial lake is connected to Lake Pichola by a canal. considered as the pride of Udaipur. There are three small islands; the largest of these is the Nehru Park , the second island has a public park with water-jet fountain, and the third island is the address for the Udaipur Solar Observatory (USO). It offers one of the most alluring qualities of water.
Motor Boat Cost: Per Person 100 Rs
One of well known local restaurant in Udaipur for Rajasthani authentic. The taste of Dal Baati and Churma makes it more remembering and famous. They only serve Dal Baati Churma and chass.
When we enter into the restaurant, it seems like a fine dine restaurants but it’s not,In this three-in-one treat (baked baati with spicy panchmel dal and sweet crumbly Churma) is revered as much for its simplicity as for its delicious taste. they have fixed menu from past 7 years, the interior of Krishna Dal Baati Restro is simply subtle, innovating. it’s quite not so noisy, after few minutes of waiting we got the table we see that the restaurant is very quiet: everyone was very much engaged in eating their food. We began to enjoy ourselves without caring about anyone; we are the only with our servers, who enjoying the most in the whole restaurants. Here we had a lot of fun with their staff members.
Cost: Per Person 250 Rs
One of the major attractions in the City of Lakes, The Park was inaugurated on 12 April 2015. The Sajjangarh Biological Park It is located in the foothills of the Monsoon Palace (Sajjangarh Palace) and is about 4 km from the city center, in an area of 36 hectares; it is a home to a massive variety of wildlife.
It would be evening when we saw it, and we came back to hostel, as soon as we arrived, we got a voice from the balcony like some traditional show, wondering that what is happening, chasing the voice, me and a friend of mine reached Lal Ghat which was a bit far away. We saw a queue of people, after some inquiries, we came to know that they are all were standing for tickets of the show. The show is done inside the Bagore Ki Haveli.
(6:25 PM)
The very famous Bagore Ki Haveli was was built by Amar Chand Badwa in the 18th century. He was the Prime Minister of the Mewar kingdom, after the death, this haveli was taken over by the Mewar royal family, a relative of Maharana of that time started staying at Bagore Ki Haveli and made this place his residence.
The main attraction of Bagore ki Haveli is the Dharohar Dance Show that is conducted in the evenings this hour long show takes place in the courtyard called as the Neem Chowk. The beautifully lit up balconies of the Neem Chowk add charm to the Haveli setting up a stage for the traditional Rajasthani folk dance and music.
Ghumar Dance, Bhavani dance, Chari Dance,Terha Taal Dance, Gorbandh Dance this are the several types of dance form that has been done here.
Dharohar Dance Show entry fee: 90 Per Person( camera cost 150 Rs)
After watching the show, we spent a while in Lal Ghats, where the film "Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani" dialogue” Tu right nahi hai naina, bas mujhse alag hai" was shooted.
The next day we made a plan to visit Mount Abu, which is 169km from the city. On the way we had breakfast.
Dec 27 2016 (8:14 AM)
The state’s only hill station stands at a height of 1722 metres above sea level, and is embraced by lush green hills of the Aravalli range. Mount Abu is also popular as a seat of religious importance for Jains. the road to paradise has never been easy bumping uneven road. With more scenic beauty, more architecture and archaeology in the form of the famous Dilwara temples, Brahmakumaris and few temples which shows that the place is exceptionally favored by the gods.
On the way going to Mount Abu we stopped to see Goddess
(11:09 AM)
Arbuda Devi Temple, also known as Adhar Devi Temple is a Hindu temple situated on a hill in Mount Abu. It is one of the top places to visit in Mount Abu. Which is at a distance of 1.8 km from Nakki Lake.
Adhar Devi Temple is located among beautiful caves on the mountains of Aravalli hills. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga also famous during Navratri, is located inside a rocky cleave and can be reached through a flight of 365 stairs, which has been carved in the hill, reached by crawling a narrow cave. The scenic beauty amidst which the temple stands is quite breathtaking. The entire Mount Abu town is visible from the top.
It is one of most beautiful tourist attraction in Mount Abu. Some says that it was dug by god to protect from demon “Bakshali”. It also has story of Rasia Balam, a sculpture he like king’s daughter. King put up the challenge whoever dugs a lake by his nail overnight, he would get his daughter married to that person but because of daughter stepmother it never happened. It is also believed that Rasia Balam dug a lake overnight with his nails. From there the name of this lake “Nakki Lake” derived.
While walking we saw magic show by little kid on the way to lake. These children would have been very stubborn, after we got rid of the kids, we went and we did boating and enjoyed a lot.
(1:32 PM)
Park is very good, very quiet and peaceful area, Brahmakumaris members are there to teach you about life, body and soul. Peace is the most important thing in life is what they teach. They will force you to listen to their speech anyhow if you want to visit park!. Unfortunately the staff here rude that they will say you to get out if you don't want to listen their spiritual speech. Ultimately it all depends on you whether you want to listen or not. I say this because one of my friends did not pay attention to his words.
Built between the 11th and 13th century, these temples are all the more exceptional because the marble to build these was brought all the way from Makrana, the most beautiful pilgrimage site for the Jains, the lavish use of marble and complex carvings on every hook and corner. From the outside, The Dilwara temple looks quite rigid but once you enter inside you will be mad at seeing it. The magnificent designs and patterns carved on the roofs, walls and pillars made by marble were quite amazing . We all were so amazed by seeing it. It is one of most beautiful temple I have ever seen in my life.
Here no camera, phones are allowed, avoid going in afternoon as it is pretty hot out there. if you still wanna go carry a pair of socks for sure otherwise your feet will burn.
It is almost 4:00pm in the evening , as our driver told us it is too risky to drive on this road to Udaipur in night, he also said some people use to block the road and rob you, Then we did not wait for sunset and went straight to Udaipur.
MOST WONDERFUL PART OF OUR TRIP…..
Dec 28, 2016 (9:44 AM)
So our trip come to the end on the 3rd day, as per our plan we reserved City Palace to visit in last because we already knew that it will take us a whole day to visit the palace. So we first had breakfast, and then took a ticket by using our college id and then we headed towards the huge gate to City Palace.
The City Palace towers over Lake Pichola, built of granite and marble. The majestic palace complex, the city’s grandest and the largest in Rajasthan and India, was built by Maharana Udai Singh II of Mewar.
This royal place was just unmissable it was so amazing and quite easy to spot from anywhere in the city. This Palace is built in the year 1569, by grew with each generation they added their touches to it, it is a witnessed of 42 rulers over 400 year. Beautiful fusion of architectural style of Persian with Rajasthani and a bit of European make it a wonderful palaces.
Today it has three parts, first is the City Palace Museum, second is the Heritage hotels and third was the Royal Family of Mewar lives.
The main gate to City Palace is the Bari Pol (Pol were called Gate). This gate leads you to Tripolia Gate.
This 3 gate is so huge so that the elephant can cross. I could imagine the Raja on his elephants crosses the gate with a shower of flower from those balconies.
Through Tripolia Gate you entered into a wide spread courtyard named Manek Chowk. Where the elephant were made to play tug of war, you will also see some handcraft shop on the left while entering here.
The main gate to enter into the City Palace Museum is from Toran Pol. (Toran - a décor) a colorful gate.
Getting inside the City Palace there are several places like Amar Vilas, Badi Mahal, Chini Chitrashala, Choti Chitrashali, Dilkhush Mahal, Durbar Hall, Fateh prakash palace, Jagdish Mandir, Krishna Vilas, Laxmi Vilas Chowk, Manak Mahal, Mor Chowk, Rang Bhawan, Sheesh Mahal and a museum.
It is quite impossible to capture it all in one visit so here are some pictures of the palace.
Badi Mahal were built in 17th century, which is nearly 90ft above due to formation of rocks, the rooms on the ground floor appear to be at the level of the fourth floor from the outside, a central garden place built with marble and granite with pool in the middle, where the Maharajas used to sprinkle water and play Holi with his Royal Queens.
I wonder this place looks more beautiful than other seasons in monsoon.
With lots of shrubs trees and fountains around also make it a rest places during the tour.
Chini Chitrashala with it's Blue Dutch inlaid tile work displays European influence.
Breathtaking part of the tour is Mor Chowk and the Dilkhush Mahal which has two chambers, Kanch Ki Burjh and Chitran Ki Burjh. From one corner to another, every inch of a wall is made of glass and mirror, was originally built in 1620s by also called Sheesh Mahal,
the chamber which is Chitran Ki Burjh has miniature painting and a lot more things.
the most spectacular courtyard of the City Palace is the Mor Chowk (Peacock Courtyard), The walls here in the hall are covered with magnificent glass mosaics, which makes it more attractive.
While wandering us were all thinking that where the hell Maharajas and their soldiers use to go for freshen up themselves, at that time we didn’t see any private rooms into the palace ha-ha loll.
After visiting the museum, we all came back to Manek Chowk, there is a gate near the Chowk which leads to the hotel.
So the second and third part of the palace comes here,
Walking a while you will see first Shambhu Niwas Palace which is the private residence of royal family, Arvind Singh Mewar lives here who is the 76s custodian of the Mewar dynasty.
No visitors are allowed to enter here.
Going little farther on the left you will see Fateh Prakash Palace which is now converted into Heritage hotel;
continue on same road downhill you will see a beautiful Lake Pichola with a café in front.
Now this cafe has completely changed and it is completely covered. Next to café this road will show you the back part of Fateh Prakash Palace and also leads you toward the Lake Pichola. From here you will see the back part of the hotel.
The City Palace has several palaces and gardens, built and extended by various Maharanas over the centuries.
We were tired after visiting the palace, then we spent time sitting on the open lakeside.
Jag Niwas has been converted into the luxurious Taj Lake Palace Hotel…
After seeing the sunset from Pichola Lake, we went back.
(6:10 pm)
Walked a little upside down in palace road to see the nearby street, while roaming, we reached a mall nearby. We went to the one who had small shops nearby, due to the high price of goods; we headed back to City Palace Road. Then while walking, we saw a small leather shop with an uncle running a sewing machine; it was a small shop, which is just 400 mtr or 500 mtr from our hostel. After much bargaining, we all took a leather bag for ourselves.
In this way, our trip to Udaipur also ended; in night at 8:00 pm , we took bus from Udaipur to Ujjain, which is our next destination.
Dec 29 2016 ( 10:30 am)
We reached Ujjain in the morning at 10:30 am, went to nearby hotel and got freshen up ourselves. On that morning we decided to visit Mahakaleshwar Mandir.
Mahakaleshwar Jyotriling, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and one of the Twelve Jyotirlingams, shrines which are said to be the most sacred places of Lord Shiva.
To see Mahadev one has to go to the very bottom inside the temple.
After that, we went to the riverside, one of our friends have to know from their relatives that there is a Dargah near the riverside.
After that, a friend of mine and I went to the Dargah three of them were still in the Kshipra River enjoying themselves after some time they left. While coming back from Dargah as we were already late for the bus so we both ran toward hotel, three of them were already in the hotel and we took our luggage and head to bus station.
Those laughs, those memories and the beautiful city we will never forget and with this, our lovely journey to Udaipur ended.
Hope you enjoyed reading our beautiful journey.
