Trip no. 1: Republic Day at Raigad Fort, Maharashtra.
On last weekend of January I planned to visit Raigad fort with my office friends. We left mumbai on friday night, reached my friend's native place at mahad in the early morning. We planned to visit raigad fort on same day.It was 1 day trip, but we reached base village late at almost 12 o clock and would have taken 3 hours to reach top. This way it was very tough to explore fort and return down. But fortunately we met few travellers over there who had planned to stay on fort overnight in dharmshala near gangasagar lake. We decided to join them and stayed overnight on fort.We explored different parts of fort, watch sunset from takmak tok. Next day morning we woke up early and watch one of the most scenic sunrise from Holicha maal/holi ground of the fort. Also attended Republic day flag hoisting. We travelled this entire trip using public transport and sharing autos.
Trip no. 2 : Solo trip to PUNE
Yes, It was my 1st solo trip that too in cultural capital of pune in the 2nd weekend of February. In this 2 days' trip from mumbai I explored major tourist location of pune such as Aga Khan Palace, Shaniwarwada,Shreemant Gagdushet Temple, Lal mahal. As I travelled mostly by public buses I couldn't cover most of other places due to limited time but as a solo trip it was great experience exploring things alone.Google map's bus navigation helped me alot to cover these places. Also covered some famous food destinations such as Sujata mastani, Shreemant Misal, Bedekar Misal, Vahuman Cafe etc.
Trip no.3 : HAMPI
In the 2nd weekend of February we had planned this 3 days' trip to Hampi. Hampi is an ancient village in the south Indian state of Karnataka. It’s dotted with numerous ruined temple complexes from the Vijayanagara Empire. We travelled Mumbai-Hampi-Mumbai by overnight bus journey.
In this 3 days/2 Nights trip we explore hampi and hippie island. (I have written in detailed about Hampi trip in another blog on my page).
Most of these points are very close to each other which makes hampi a perfect destination for short trip.
Trip no.4 : 300 ft adventurous rappelling at Duke's nose, Lonavala.
2020 was started so well considering all destinations we had covered in last 2 months and Duke's nose rappelling was a cherry on the cake. This breathtaking 300 ft rappelling with my trekking group was one of the best experience which I will never forget. I literally lived this dialogue from YJHD "Har din aaisa beete ki mujhe apne dilo ki dhandkane apne kano tak sunayi de" while rappelling down 300 ft on rope.
So that's it! This was all about 2020 travel I did. Like you all, hoping this pandemic will go and we could restart new journeys again. Till then, stay face and stay home.
