Golkonda fort is a small hill fort in Hyderabad, India. It is situated on the south bank of the Musi River, which flows through the city. The fort was built in 16th century by the Qutb Shahi dynasty, who ruled over the Deccan region. The Qutb Shahis were overthrown by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1687, who had Golkonda's walls demolished and erected his own fort, known as Golconda Fort.
