How to Get to Lamma Island

Getting to Lamma Island is easy and convenient, as there are regular ferries that connect the island with Central and Aberdeen on Hong Kong Island. The ferry ride takes about 25 to 30 minutes and costs around HK$20 to HK$30 per person, depending on the time and the destination.

There are four piers on Lamma Island: Yung Shue Wan, Sok Kwu Wan, Mo Tat and Pak Kok. Yung Shue Wan is the main pier and the most populous region of the island, where you can find most of the restaurants, shops and cafes. Sok Kwu Wan is the second-largest pier and the quieter and more secluded part of the island, where you can enjoy authentic seafood and scenic views. Mo Tat and Pak Kok are smaller piers that serve the southern and northern parts of the island, respectively.

You can check the ferry schedule and buy tickets online on the Hong Kong and Kowloon Ferry website. You can also use the Octopus card to pay for the ferry fare. We recommend that you arrive at the ferry terminal at least 15 minutes before the departure time, as the ferries can get crowded during peak hours and weekends.

Lamma Island Reviews

There was much to do in the city and we managed to fill all our days. We did a free Tai Chi class early one morning which was a refreshing way to start the day. We spent a day on Lamma island which is a very laid back place full of pretty gift shops and worth a visit. There is a trail from one side of the island to the harbour on the other side and we walked across enjoying the scenery.
A short ferry ride away ... Lama Island is a perfect gateway to enjoy an evening.
