My husband and I visited the United States of America for a holiday. We decided to visit the famous cities on the West Coast (California). San Francisco had to be our first destination.
Now after seeing this city in the Hollywood movies and admiring the Golden Gate Bridge through pictures and movies, it was time that we visited this gorgeous city! This city has its own quirky and unique energy that makes you fall in love with it. There are plenty of things to do in this city!
Let's look at some of the things you shouldn't miss while you are in the 'City By the Bay!'
Walk the Golden Gate Bridge: This has to be on the top of the list. The 'Golden Gate Bridge' is one of the most prominent places that give this city its unique identity! It looks gorgeous and magnificent from every corner. Park your car and just walk the bridge and enjoy the serene view of the bay. There is a pedestrian pathway that can help you to experience this beauty! Make sure you carry a jacket because it might get windy anytime. Ride a Cable Car: The San Francisco's cable car system is the world's last manually operated cable car system. This is one of the things that you have to do when you are in the city. The ride gives a splendid view of the city! Visit Pier 39: Make sure to visit the Pier when you are in this city! San Francisco has a lot of Piers that are numbered. Make sure to visit Pier 39 for some delicious food, sea lions and of course the view! Visit the Alcatraz Prison: You have probably heard about the prison or must have seen it in the movies. It is one of the top tourist destinations. Make sure you either book your tickets in advance either through the counter or online. The Alcatraz Federal Prison was a maximum-security federal prison on Alcatraz Island, off the coast of San Francisco. Admire the Painted Ladies: Now who here is the fan of Full House, the series? The houses shown in the series were basically the 'Painted Ladies' Houses situated in San Francisco. These are some of the most beautiful houses with Victorian architecture. These houses give a vintage look and are the most beautiful street to look at.
Visit Lombard Street: Lombard Street is also known as the crookedest street in the world. It is famous for a steep, one-block section with eight hairpin turns. You definitely have to click a couple of photographs in this street.
We fell in love with this city, its architecture, vibe, food and the weather. It is a little expensive compared to the other cities in the USA but it is worth visiting at least once. It is a chilled-out city. The best thing to do is sit in a restaurant/cafe in one of the piers, sip a chilled beer and enjoy the view and the serenity of this city!
