Bored with working from home ? Lets move to mountains and lets work with a view.

With the recent Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, most of us have found ourselves quarantined or isolated to our homes. A lucky number of us have the upside of being able to work from home and its like a one time opportunity to get into Workcation. Few days back i finally decided to take this much needed vacation with work and landed in Kasol.

Kasol is a hamlet in the district Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. It is situated in Parvati Valley, on the banks of the Parvati River, on the way between Bhuntar and Manikaran. Very calm, peaceful and scenic place to be in. With temperature already going down its perfect to enjoy in Kasol right now in October. Temperature is around 12-13 degrees these days.

Our host :) She loves to work along!

With new normal coming in, Kasol and other places in mountains are welcoming travellers with good connectivity and long term stay facilites. I prebooked my stay with workcations.in and came here. The stay is hotel/homestay and have homely food, descent internet connectivity and room have perfect view of mountains. I stayed in Hotel Aman Palace, you can find better alternatives as well.

There are so many beautiful villages and treks to enjoy here. Kheerganga, Tosh, Kalga-Pulga-Tulga, Malana, Manikaran, Grahan village trek etc. I chose to have long stay here and explore Kasol before heading to treks and near by places.

River behind stay

Kasol is known as 'Mini Israel' as well due to a high percentage of Israeli tourists here. There are many good cafes here to explore. The Evergreen cafe, Moon Dance cafe are near to town center. There is a chat shop 'The happy uncle' which serves delicious chats.

Although Kasol is known as Smoker's hub, but lot of things are there for everyone to enjoy here. If you are Nature explorer you will love the long stay here.

Mornings are beautiful with birds chirping around. I am enjoying the best mornings here these days. Walk in the wood with birds chirping around is meditation for sure. Best part is you find cute doggos who love to go for walk along. Stopping by the river and feeling cold breeze with sound of speedy water flowing is perfect break you can have from quarantined life of months.

Taking a walk down the market area in evening is different fun altogether. You can explore some shops as well to get stuff of Hippie culture. Market area in Kasol is pretty good and you can get all the necessary items here. Bit commercial though but good that tourism bussiness is starting again for Pahadi people :)

Loving my Work from Mountains time and i hope you will also fall in love with Kasol when you are here soon!

Working by the river <3

Overall, loved the concept of Workcation and it did improve productivity many folds. Had great mental peace as well and i was feeling energetic after being into monotonous WFH for months.

Few travel tips:

- Take full precautions while travelling to mountains coz medical infrastructure is not very good so better to have Safe travel

- Good to pre book stay and check for connectivity prior. Jio and Airtel mobile networks awesome in Kasol and its giving ~20 mbps speed :)

- Pack woolen jackets as it is bit cold right now

- Always wear mask :)

- Don't bargain much with guides or shop keepers right now since they have resumed work after almost 6-7 months and its time to help them as well ^_^
