Nestled in the scenic Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, this once-hidden gem has recently become the talk of the town as a bustling tourist attraction. The main star of the show? The delectable local cuisine lovingly prepared by the talented local women.

Duggardhani has employed a remarkable team of 1500 local women, whose culinary skills have elevated the village's reputation to new heights. These culinary maestros have mastered the art of creating sumptuous dishes that will leave your taste buds begging for more.

Shop in Duggardhani

Duggardhani has also transformed into a shopaholic's dream destination. Wander through the market stalls and indulge in a treasure trove of traditional handicrafts, horticulture products, pickles, papads, and chutneys. It's a shopper's paradise where you can find unique souvenirs to cherish forever.

The heartwarming objective behind this remarkable initiative is to empower and uplift the local women, providing them with a platform to showcase their culinary prowess while earning a livelihood. In a land where employment opportunities for women are crucial, Duggardhani's self-help group members have found a path to success through their traditional Dogra culinary skills. It's a career option that celebrates their talent and contributes to their well-being.

Moving on to the local delicacies, indulge in the heavenly delights of makki ki roti (cornbread), creamy kheer (rice pudding), special Dogra dal (lentils), refreshing lassi, and much more. Each bite will transport you to a realm of culinary bliss, where tradition and taste intertwine.

This inspiring initiative was spearheaded by Reasi's Deputy Commissioner, Babila Rakwal, who aimed to improve the lives of the self-help group members of Naari ki Pehchaan, a cluster-level federation. The program, launched in May 2023, received support from the District Administration Reasi and the J&K Tourism Department, along with the J&K Rural Livelihood Mission.

But there's more to Reasi than just Duggardhani. This lesser-known paradise awaits your discovery, situated on the banks of the serene Chenab River. Immerse yourself in the spiritual aura of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, explore the Nav Devi Mandir, seek solace at the Shri Shiv Khori Shrine, and pay homage at Shri Bawa Aghar Jitto Ji. Reasi offers a tapestry of cultural and natural wonders that will leave you enchanted.
