Soo after 15 to 20 days of daydreaming about the trip ahead and followed by 34 hours of train journey, we were at the jalandhar cantonment around 8 am. Followed by 3 hours of bus ride we checked in at our hotel in Amritsar and within a few hours were wandering through the hallways of Golden Temple. While everyone else was amazed by the serenity, cleanliness and the beautiful carvings, I was busy mesmerised by the melodious song being played in the background. But I was literally astounded when I realized that the song was actually being sung by a couple of young Sikhs when we entered the main dome of the temple. Even today everytime i think about it I go to that peaceful place all over again.
P.S we didn't get the opportunity to see the jallianwala bagh as it was under renovation and also missed wagha border as it had been closed due to COVID19 situation.
I know it's a bad start but hang in there, it definitely gets better over the whole journey!
We travelled from Amritsar to Manali by bus, which was a 12 hour journey so we spent day2 travelling itself. But, when you have loud music, colorful lights and handful of your partners in crime, trust me the bus seating was not less than a dance floor.
We reached Manali quite late. As soon as I got into the bed it felt like I was sitting on the ice (it was 7degrees). I got out of the tent and started running through the camp to warm myself up ( Crazy as it sounds). But that sleep, post the run was quite peaceful.
Now they say " the best view comes after the hardest climb". That freezing night was like our hardest climb, but waking up to that view where we were surrounded by mountains from all sides with a chilling yet sunny morning will be best left unexpressed. Though have a zest!
We spent the day with a jungle trek, enjoyed rampling, a couple of sports more and then visited Hidimba Temple. Then we decided to end the day by traveling to kasol.
But there was more to come our way because actual fun started when we reached kasol around 10:30 pm. Coz we were supposed to trek by the side trail through the mountains for a couple of hours to reach the actual camp (aur ye ho raha hai raat ke 11 baje). We were pacing and scared asf, but it ended with dinner around the campfire. Hardly anyone can complain after such a treat.( par sach batao toh that night trek was my favorite trek through the whole trip)
Morning in Kasol started with breakfast with a view of the Beas river. Trekked back down the mountains to leave towards Tosh village.
We reached Tosh around 6 in the evening. That evening was reserved for musical and stand up performances and was absolute fun.
The hotel we stayed in was not really up to the mark, but guys THE VIEW, compensated everything. Sitting in the balcony watching those ice covered mountains in the sizzling moonlight is something everyone should definitely experience once.
(Little tip: The Liquor in Tosh is terrible. So to all the drinkers out there, carry some)
It was ICE-TIME. We started trekking towards Kutla and a couple of hours later, we were on the ice, playing, hitting each other with ice balls and dancing. Now I was an ice virgin so you guys imagine the happiness of the first time. Exhausted after a few hours we started trekking back down to the hotel to leave towards Bhuntar.
And then something unexpected happened. "SNOWFALL GUYS, SNOWFALL!" The cold now got our souls, with those mixed feelings of terrified cold and beautiful scenery we left Tosh. We reached Bhuntar by 9, had dinner and sat chit chatting the whole night.
Who loves to fly? Who loves to sail? Coz this day was reserved for those adventure seekers!
We reached a town named 'Babeli Banegi' and had boats waiting for some rafting and parachutes for some kickass paragliding. Followed by some shopping we travelled towards our last destination. Reached Shimla around 10 at night.
Endings should always be happy. And trust me we had one. The greenery, those typical himalian houses, those empty roads and those crowded mall road streets. There's no way one won't fall for Shimla. You know they say some places feel like home, Shimla is that place for me.
After hours of Shopping and hogging food we reached back hotel and were ready to leave.
(Do visit a bakers shop named Trishool Bakers on mall road)
Well, the ending got even happier. Overloaded vehicles are banned up the hill in Shimla. So our bus was around 3 kilometers down the valley from our hotel waiting for us. So instead of doing cabs we decided to walk down the hill. The whole trip was on one side and that walk through the ghats of Shimla surrounded by green lush trees from everywhere was on another. Finally we headed back to ambala cantonment to end that beautiful journey and get back to the routines. Leaving Shimla was the hardest part until now!
