The Ultimate College Trip to Manali

I always wanted to go on a trip to some hill station with my college buddies. And guess what! Just after two days, the trip was announced and that too college trip to Manali! And there was no end to my excitement. I mean who doesn't want a break from computer science studies? I am glad I am part of Dcrust University in Murthal, Haryana and more thankful for this trip.

It was an amazing trip. Although it was a struggle to convince all my friends, finally it happened! We were all packing for our trip. Finally, the day was here when we landed to our premise and all set for the trip. I could feel that even the wind was excited to take us away to Manali.

Day 1: However, some of my folks didn't like the overnight journey but I was excited about the fun. We started our journey with some fun games and entertainment. We were singing all night in the bus. And let's not forget those love birds who were trying to express their feelings in romantic songs. It was fun to watch and tease them. It was a 14 hours journey. I won't quote the same as a long journey but rather, it was peaceful and exciting at the same time. I should mention my journal here that was keeping a track of every emotion I felt in the trip. Some of my friends slept off and that's when I started to pen down in my journal.

Manali

The full moon never looked so beautiful. The stars were smiling with me and telling me how exciting this journey is going to be. In no time, we reached our destination, 'Manali'. We were assigned our rooms and we slept for a few hours to continue our journey in the morning with a fresh breeze.

Day 2: Well, the destinations were too many and I was already packed and dressed in my casuals. Thankfully, I was wearing my favorite sneakers that were just a perfect companion in my journey. Our first visit in Manali was Hidimba Temple.

Hidimba Devi Temple: It was a magnificent piece of art to watch! This temple was a dedication to Goddess Hidimba who was the wife of Bhima. This beautiful piece of architecture was built on rocks which were enshrined in the image of the goddess herself. The beauty was the cedar forests surrounding the temple. I still have those pictures. I mean, it is nothing less than a desktop saver. The view was just extravaganza. The significance of the temple was declared to Hindu pilgrims as part of Mahabharata. The view of the temple from far seemed like a perfect beauty of nature. It felt like the entire forest was hugging the temple from all corners. It was just amazing. Next stop was Monastery.

Monastery: Gadhan Thekchhokling Gompa Monastery was the next destination in the list. Since I am a reader, I love to explore different philosophies. And one such encouraging journey was Buddhism. This monastery was a perfect declaration of the essence of Buddhism. The spiritual vibe in the monastery was very calming. This monastery was built in 1960 and every year Buddhist monks from different countries and states visit here. Now it was time to visit Van Vihar.

Van Vihar, Manali: If you are a nature lover, Van Vihar is a perfect destination to soothe your eyes. The dense green grass looked like a huge carpet covering the vihar. The deodar trees in the vihar seemed like giggling with the sky. They were really tall! The man-made lake in the vihar was just amazing. I was sitting on the shore with my journal and felt like never leaving the place. It was a perfect place to calm your heart and body.

Day3: Rohtang Pass: I am sure this place does not really need an introduction. If you want to play with snow on a steamy snowy hill, Rohtang pass is your destination. Make sure you are wearing warm clothes and socks. However, jackets and proper shoes will be provided to you. We were all set to play with snow. As soon as we were ready with jackets and shoes, we went to the top and hugged the snow bed. After a while, I saw sun rays kissing my cheeks. It was just an amazing feeling. And the sip of tea on the snow bed was just an amazingly warm feeling altogether. We spent a really good time over there and it was time to get back to the roads.

Paragliding: As we were driving back from Rohtang Pass, we stopped in the hills for paragliding. Some of my friends were scared, but I was all set to enjoy nature with wings. My words cannot even describe how deep those mountains and hills were, but the beauty of mountains was just magnificent. I would feel every wind and bird quaking in the mountains. An adventure well enjoyed!

As the sun was setting, we were already tired of all the adventures and fun. It was time to go back to the hotel. But guess what; we ended the day with some bonfire on the roof and singing songs. It was a wonderful feeling.

Day4:River Rafting: We all woke up with a smile on our face. We were excited about today's journey. It was the day of river rafting. I was all ready for rafting with those funny water waves. We were given a set of jackets and a helmet to keep us safe. As we were shoring against the waves, we all were shouting in excitement. There was a moment where I shouted at the top of my voice. Hang on! Don't get scared; I screamed out of happiness. I just loved the water slapping my body. It was a wonderful experience that I will remember my whole life.

Kullu Dushera: However, we were already tired fighting with the waves, but we still wanted to be part of Kullu Dusshera. Can you believe that there were more 5 lac people gathered in Kullu to celebrate dusshera? It was a wonderful experience and view to watch. I never knew that people enjoy Dusshera at its extent in Himachal Pradesh. People are gathered in Dhalpur Maidan in Kullu on full moon day which is known as 'Vijay-Dashmi'. The festival continues for 7 days where people pray and enjoy devotional songs of Lord Raghunath together. It was a wonderful experience.
