Long back when I was in 6th grade I went to Kerela and read on a poster at the airport – Welcome to Heaven on Earth. The trip went beautiful and the place indeed seemed like heaven till I went to Kasol.
The trip was a sudden plan that I and my cousins made and flew to Delhi on one fine day for our buses to Bhuntar from where we took a local bus to Kasol and got down at the bus stand crossing the bridge under which was flowing a beautiful river.
We were in Kasol, a small city with mountains all around. The mountains were snow-capped and looked beautiful shining like diamonds. The place had a vibe that I had never seen or experienced, the calmness of the ambiance and the chilliness in the air made it a perfect stop.
We had our trek to Sar Pass starting the next day!! We reached our base camp in Kasol and met all those who would accompany us for this 7 days of amazing trek to Sar Pass! Later we all went out to rent and buy a few things that we were short of and soon left for our trial trek which was scheduled at 2 pm.
The time was a bummer but the weather didn’t seem like 2:00 pm, the sun was nowhere visible, the sky was wrapped with clouds, white-colored and fluffy as cotton candy!! A few moments into the trial trek and we didn’t know how were we gonna complete the Sar Pass trek! It was tiring though we hadn’t walked a percentage of what we were to walk on our trek to Sar Pass and that scared us a lot!
Soon we were back to base camp right on time as the rains showed up at the odd hour of the day. After having tea we had our session scheduled where they taught us on what about for the trek or should I say scared the shit out of us! They were warning us as the trek indeed wasn’t an easy one and it was a challenge that we had taken, they said “it's not easy but it's worth it” and trust me it was!
The temperature started dropping and from a pleasant 13° it was not a chilling 3° and the sun soon went down making it a worse 1°. The camp food was good for the rates they are charging for the whole package! We were asked to sleep by 9:00 pm so that we can start the trek early but the star-filled sky and the shiny mountains reflecting moonlight caught our eyes and we sat there under the open sky just to see the beauty of moonlight.
At that moment I didn't care about how the trip ahead will be, because the sight i was sitting in was amazing!
Stay tuned for other chapters and days of this trek!!
