The Indian Meteorological Department has issued warnings of additional heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, primarily due to a robust monsoon trough and a low-pressure system. While the Meteorological Department initially predicted this rainy period to persist until August 29, the red alert has been specifically issued for a two-day period in the districts of Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur.

According to Surender Paul, the director of IMD's Shimla center, an orange alert has been issued for Hamirpur and Bilaspur.

Since Wednesday, the state has experienced widespread rainfall. It has come to the attention that nearly 700 roads are currently blocked due to landslides, including four national highways that connect Kullu-Mandi, Mandi-Pathankot, Kalka-Shimla, and Theog-Hatkoti.
