Prasher Lake

It was our arrival to Bir from Delhi. We were confused about where to go and then a old bucket list place came into our mind which is Prasher lake in Winters. Then we planned it will be awesome to stay there in tents and cook our own food. So a late start as usual from bir at about 1200. We had our lunch at Ghatasani at Raju Bhai ka dhaba which costs 50 rupees per head which includes 5 types of dishes. So a little more late we continued and decided that now no breaks as we have to reach before sunset to get our tents and fire ready. Before taking the turn for Prasher lake we took our supplies for dinner and breakfast. At about 1600 we reached prasher lake and for a surprise we found that it's snow everywhere luckily a little less on road the amount my Alto k10 can handle. Finally after crossing lake on our right side we got a place to pitch our tents only problem was wood which we didn't took on our way up. One person started to pitch tent and I went for wood on the cliff side after 2 rounds down and back up we got enough wood for a night stay. So as our tent was ready we lit the fire and started to prepare tea which was much needed. After tea as we started to cook dinner wind speed increased and it started to become unbearable to sit outside we focussed on on cooking dinner and at about 2000 it was ready after the delicious meal we decided to let the fire burning as we were alone camping there and left the food items outside to put away the bears or wild animals. Thanks to the good camping gear it was easy to stay at this cold climate place.

A morning as expected woke us up. But the chilling wind was still there which didn't let us come out of tents. Then at sunrise we came out of tents and after freshing up we prepared for morning tea and lit the fire and with a little photo shoot we enjoyed our morning tea which was blessed with bright sun shining on us. Then I prepared the Maggi as our break fast and she packed our stuff and tents. With  tasty veg Maggi as our breakfast we packed our stuff and put everything in our car and head for the temple and lake. With a little hike to the top to enjoy the view and to get some good photos we wandered all around the lake. After taking  blessing at the temple we went for  a parikrama of lake along with a little cleanup campaign as we picked up wrappers and garbage around the lake. The Prasher lake is at the side of prasher temple which is made in devotion of Prasher rishi with a marvelous wooden art as whole temple is made of wood. After parikrama we headed back to bir to celebrate New year.
Prasher lake can be reached via Mandi also and via palampur. A lot of homestay s are available to stay at prasher lake. Its better to visit here after consulting weather as this region recieves a good snowfall everyyear.
