Day 1

I never celebrated New year's eve in such calmness and peace and definitely it was the best one. When everyone was running towards Auli, Manali and all the hip places to bring in the new year, I was already on my solo backpack trip and was in Joshimath for Christmas. But on New year's Eve I just didn't enjoy the noise the crowd was bringing from the city and on the eve Joshimath started looking like Chandni Chowk market to me and I decided to leave it, not knowing to where I'll go.

One thing I knew that I want to bring in the New Year's in silence and just be with myself. After lot of suggestions and searching on the internet, I found Gopeshwar to be the closest thing what I was looking for while it's not the most touristy place and definitely not on New Year's eve. I booked the homestay not knowing for how many days..

But the homestay in Gopeshwar became home in just one night 🌃. I ate some delicious home cooked food, played with kids and enjoyed the bonfire🔥. On New Year's eve, I was just happy looking out of my balcony and listening to the birds chirping and dim lights coming from the houses in the mountains.. sigh.. this is all I wanted.

Day 2

The next day I took a walk to the Gopinath temple and really enjoyed the vibe of the place. Temple visits, sometime, are just an excuse to explore the city atleast for me.
And this is how I brought in the New year.
