Khajjiar is known for its nine-hole golf-course which is nestled in the midst of lush greenery and a breathtaking landscape. Khajjiar is a small plateau which also has a small lake which is one of the most favored tourist spots in this town. Khajjiar is surrounded by green meadows and dense forests and it is also known for its beautiful temples. Due to its topographical resemblance with Switzerland, Khajjiar is ofter called the' Mini Switzerland' of India. This saucer shaped green meadow is engulfed by Deodar trees and has a lake in the middle. On July 7, 1992, Khajjiar was called the 'mini Switzerland' by the then Vice-Counsellor and Head of the Chancery of Switzerland in India, Willy Blazer. He also put a sign board which showed the distance between Khajjiar and Swiss capital-Bern. He took a stone from Khajjiar to be installed in the stone collage around the Swiss Parliament to constantly remind people of Khajjiar as the 'Mini Switzerland'.
