Kasol- A Mini Israel in Himachal Pradesh

Tripoto

Kasol is a beautiful village in Himachal Pradesh, northern India. It is situated in Parvati Valley, on the banks of the Parvati River, on the way between Bhuntar to Manikaran. If you want a short trip in low budget visit kasol.

How to Reach Kasol:

I started my journey from Delhi to Bhunter or Manali(There is no direct bus to Kasol). Bhunter is on the Manali route and falls 50km before Manali. Took another bus from Bhunter to Kasol which is approx 30km away from Bhunter. There are continuous bus services from Bhunter to kasol.

It will take around 12-13 hours from Delhi to Bhunter and another 1-1.30 hours from Bhunter to Kasol.

That’s the best way to reach Kasol because flights and trains are unthinkable in this part of the hills and these days bus bookings are convenient and quick.

Journey is as beautiful as the destination, especially crossing through mountains and rivers. I just love the picturesque view from bus window.

Bus – From Delhi getting to Kasol takes 14 hours approx. Start from the ISBT Kashmere Gate, you can reach the ISBT via metro, auto, bus or taxi from pretty much anywhere in Delhi.

Once there you have a range of ticket prices you can choose from. The local Himachal Parivahan bus fares are around 500-600 Rupees per ticket and the prices go higher as the bus quality increases.

Roadways – 560+. Buses ply every half an hour.

Semi Delux – 650+. Buses ply every 2 hours

Delux – 800+. Buses ply every 2 hours

Sleeper – 900+. Buses ply mornings and nights.

Volvo – 1200+. Buses ply till 4 p.m. And then after 9 p.m

you can even book Volvos that are going to Manali and get down at Bhunter on the way online.

Usually, I just get to the ISBT and take the next bus that is leaving.

Note that you have to get off at Bhunter as there are no direct buses from Delhi to Kasol. After getting to Bhunter you can either take a local bus that is a little bumpy but aslo dirt cheap at a mere 35 Rs per ticket and fairly low than a Taxi that could charge upto 500 Rs.

There's also the option of Direct Taxis from Delhi and now you can even rent cars. The fare for Taxi from Delhi to Kasol and back would be something close to 11-12 thousand in total.

Accommodation:

Remain least-bothered about your accommodation. You will find plenty of economical hotels in Kasol. You can book them online as well though.

Staying There:

Once you reach Kasol there's a variety of places you can stay at. Ranging from Rs 500 per night to Rs 1500 per night.

Food:

The food at Bhoj Cafe was the best I've ever had until recently when the quality degraded to inedible. The breakfast is still pretty good with fresh cut veggies and a huge sandwich with a side of fries.

The pizza and fries at Little Italy are a must try.

But for a good meal I'd recommend Evergreen Cafe. Sit outside and you have a good view of the hills and the food is blissful.

There's also a place beyond Evergreen, you keep walking for a bit and then you find this river side camping place where Chai is a must.

The German Bakery is where I'd suggest you go when you crave something sweet or when the munchies kick in.

Go beyond the bridge, take a left and after a few minutes walk you will come across Maria Cafe, a sweet location and good food makes this places one of the best places to check in Kasol.
