Growing up while reading Harry Potter’s books and dreaming of visiting the Hogsmeade valley I was always fascinated by the snow and seeing the snow fall was on my wish list and so the anticipated journey began.
One of my friends and I were just discussing our work when suddenly we planned to go on a Tosh trip. Without delay, we planned our trip and applied for our leaves.
We were a total of 5. It was January 22nd and we all met at Chandigarh airport with so much excitement and nervousness about what to expect from our trip. That night we stayed at the hotel, New Chandigarh holiday home near Nayagaon, where we discussed our plans to make our trip to Kasol.
The next day we started at 6 in the morning. Two of us rented bikes from Chandigarh and three of us took a cab which our hotel owner booked for us, I'll pin all the addresses and rentals at the end, this way we were able to explore the natural beauty at our own pace. We felt more connected to the culture as we were able to stop anywhere to find beautiful hidden places. Finally, we reached kasol at night 9, it was raining outside heavily so anyhow we managed to reach our camp, then we had our dinner and chit-chatted till late at night.
In Kasol you can do absolutely nothing just eat, sleep and chill and try out hiking around. There are plenty of options to stay, you'll get both tents and wooden rooms starting from 1500, we stayed at the lalit's kitchen, the location was amazing and view was breathtaking. Kasol is also called mini Israel because of so many Israelis around here and Israeli food in the evergreen cafe is a must, a perfect blend of fancy dining and good music.
Tosh is a 1-hour delightful journey from Kasol, here you can trek up to Kutla which takes about an hour from the Tosh village.
If you love snow, Kutla is a perfect place for you to trek. When we started trek due to old snow the place was very slippery and hence dangerous so we dropped the idea and returned midway.
Here in Tosh also you can enjoy the climate, the village life and also must try thupka, a Tibetian noodle soup and also you can try Israeli food there.
By trekking a little further from kasol you will get the serenity of the magical Himachal Pradesh, the quiet little village of Chalal. It is set in the beautiful Parvati valley of the Himalayas, with a amazing view of snow-capped mountains.
Katagla village is about 40 minutes’ walk from Chalal on the same path along the Parvati river. It is a smaller village than Chalal but is even more beautiful because of its remote location and lesser people. Katagla lies right next to the Parvati river and one can hear the sound of gushing water everywhere
With a heavy heart, we said goodbye to Kasol and headed back to Chandigarh.
You know that feeling that you get after vacation when you're just so happy to get back to reality?
Me neither..
Until next time...
