Day 1

I always love to plan travelling, when we had no smart phones, not much internet connectivity, I used to plan destinations, with family n friends. In Maharashtra, I used to visit on my own but that too known places. But whenever I used to see foreigners specially females  roaming in India alone, somewhere back of my mind, I was crazy about it. Even it is said, India is unsafe specially for ladies to travel solo, (which is wrong as I experienced as Solo traveller).with some safety measures, for safer side. One more thing I always wish to have trekking. It's said that if you wish by heart, nature also help you to fulfill it. (Agar Tum dilse Kuch chhahte ho, toh kayanat bhi Tumhe milaneme madat karti hai), yes, it happened with me. Myself and a couple  planned  Orissa tour in April end 2018,and my friend 's daughter in law asked me, why don't you join us for a Sarpass trek? I feel it's an opportunity to fulfill my dream of trek. I asked her dates,  sadly only one  day was there, as I was returning on First  May at Nagpur  and I have to reach  Kasol, base camp for a trek on 4th May 2018.As I m budget traveller, I used to travel by train n local transport. Even though I was very much in dilemma whether I can do it  as well  can I reach there alone,as all other ladies were leaving earlier by flight, to visit  Manali n nearby places. I talked with organiser n finally confirm my trek. I generally don't  interact very easily with all. It takes time  but as I have to travel alone  n reach at Kasol , I make up my mind, read other solo traveller blogs.Prepare my shopping list for trek, start with  Rucksack, how to carry it on back, small backpack in front, trek shoes n stick other must things to carry. I returned from  Orissa tour(which was after FANI cyclone  only) on first May 2018 n next day night started my next journey, first Solo travel from Nagpur to Kasol, with anxiety, thrill n doubts in mind. Family members were also doubtful about my venture, as I was the oldest in that team n  arthritis patient too(i was 56 that time). After reaching Delhi, I freshen up in waiting room, had breakfast  and by Metro, reached ISBT from  where bus leaves for Himachal Pradesh. After watching my dress-up, rucksack, n shoes, people asked me if I m from  Army or Police? It gives me immense pleasure,, at least I look fit for trek😄.My bus was at 5.30pm reaching Bhunter at 5am, as Organiser told me. And my real journey started, meanwhile I tried  calls to  person who suggested me this trek, but it was out of range, n same was organiser. It was very annoying for me, lastly at 8.30pm,i talked with him, n he told plan is changed, u don't go Kasol n come to place which was near Kullu meanwhile I planned to visit  Manikaran first then to that place,as I have to reach by evening. I reached  Bhunter in morning, asked locals about bus stop  n he told inside lane, even I can't believe  but showing very confidence on face,i went there, as it was early morning, no more people were there, as well no bus, only empty road., few persons, n dogs😉and a brave lady😅,After some time, restaurants started opening ,I had Aloo Paratha in breakfast n tea, refreshed me. I went Manikaran by bus, as bus was going Barshini it stopped on road, and I had to ascend down with  rucksack n all. I went one hotel, as suggested by organiser n freshen up., went to Gurudwara n had lunger ,I always love their selfless Seva.🙏 After Lunch, I came back hotel  n took my luggage n searched for Kullu bus, drizzling started till that time. Again I have to change bus for base camp, after so much hectic, I reached there at 6pm. Actually I was irritated due to last moment change in planning. But keep myself calm(first lesson of trek) I met all other ladies for the first time n get introduced. Everyone appreciated my first time effort of Soloing .Nature around camp make me more enthusiastic, and yes it was my first camping experience too. Next day early morning, we started by bus to reach a place from where  Trek was starting. It was ahead of  Manikaran n inside jungle area. Extra luggage was kept at base camp, that time I understand how to manage in less no of clothes  n put on layers of clothes as it was chill  there. And our trek started, other members started fast, after doing 9/10km trek(12,000ft.altitude), we reached at our first camping point.  No cellphone, no music  but abundant natural beauty n serenity. Dinner was so tasty after long trek, but no tiredness. All of sudden weather changed  whole night lightening n shower changed the senerio. I had fever n due to weather going on worsening, I took decision to go back, as due to me, others should not suffer. It was total 14km trek. I came back at Manikaran n stayed in Dharmshala. I get well soon n enjoyed at Manikaran, went to Barshini by bus, roam around, talked with locals, make new traveller friends, listen their travel n trek experience. It's all mesmerizing , even though I didn't complete full trek, gives me pleasure of self confidence, new experiences n alertness. I came back with full satisfied. Within  two months, I planned VOF on my own n completed SOLO.Now I love to travel Solo n many ladies ask me How you do it? I just smile  n tell 'Willpower'😊#LadysFirst
