The Hidden Treasure : Shangarh Valley
However , the whole of Himachal is filled with treasures full of natural beauty, where lakhs of tourists come from India and abroad every year and enjoy these natural sites. But even today, there are many such beautiful and mysterious places that are isolated from the outside world. One such name in natural places is Shangarh. Shangarh is situated atop a hill in the beautiful Sainj valley of Kullu district. It is 35 km from Kullu. One cannot imagine that after climbing an inaccessible hill, there can be such a huge lush green beautiful meadow at a height of 6300 feet on the hill. This huge meadow is surrounded by dense cedar trees on three sides, which increases its beauty manifold. This sloping meadow is spread over about 40 acres of land. Until some time ago there was only a walkway to reach here, only a few people could reach here. Most of them were nature lovers or runaway lovers. Now the vehicle has become a suitable way to
reach this place, but in the rainy season this path is quite slippery. Apart from being naturally beautiful, there are many interesting things related to this place that make this place different from other natural places. In fact, it is a religious site with a background from the Pandava period. Before this it is necessary to know that originally this place is of Shangchul Mahadev. Who came from a place called Sangla in Kinnaur before the Mahabharata period and settled here. According to a legend, the Pandavas developed this place during their exile as per the order of Shangchul Mahadev. They filtered the soil here and made the place flat and raised grain on it. Even today, after digging this land to a greater depth, no pebbles are found, such is the statement of the people here. Along with this huge meadow, the beautiful village has a temple of Shangchul Mahadev. The meadows is actually the property of Shangchul Mahadev. The temple of Shangchul Mahadev is shaped like a tower temple. The temple has been constructed on the basis of availability of local resources.
Only wood and stone have been used in this by a scientific and anti-earthquake method. There are many such temples in Devbhoomi of himachal. Such temples were built to protect the dynasty from the invaders. This temple was reconstructed just a few years ago. The old temple was burnt to ashes in 1998. When the Pandavas took refuge in this place, the Kauravas tried to attack them, but Shangchul Mahadev stopped them from entering the valley. Because whoever takes refuge in Shangarh, Shangchul Mahadev takes full responsibility for their safety. This practice continues even today. Every person who comes here is the guest of Shangchul Mahadev. This temple is also famous for the fact that if a love struck couple runs away, marries and takes shelter here, Shangchul Mahadev takes responsibility for their safety and no one can harm them by coming here. The priest of the temple makes full arrangements for their food and shelter and they can leave this place only after the consent of their family. Police are not allowed to come in uniform in Shangarh. Not only this, no one is allowed to fight or to shout loudly in the juissdiction of shangchul mahadev. Any tourist who comes here once wishes to come time and again, because the moments of nature comfort found here may not be destined anywhere else. If you want to feel very close to nature, then you must spend at least one night here. There is a guest house of the forest department for a stay here. Apart from this, the local people have also made arrangements for home stay. Make sure to enjoy the local food here and include your visit to the Shanghad Valley in your unforgettable memories.
