Day 1

I believe Shimla has given me so many memories and is a place where I changed into a better and stronger version for myself. I owe Shimla to an endless extent.
I have always loved hills and doing my graduation in Shimla was nothing less than a dream come true. I could never imagine in my wildest dreams that one day I would also be a pahadi living in Himachal for three magnificent years of my life.
I am in University College of Business Studies, Avalodge doing my BBA programme. Since this was going to be the last Diwali during my graduation time, I decided to stay & celebrate it right there instead of going back to my home and joining friends there(which is in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh). Although this was not appreciated at all by any of my family member(& friends), but I still decided to just do it. As I am an activist there, I go to eco parks (potters hill, on that day, which is near my room in Summerhill) regularly to do plogging and sticking posters around on dustbins with saracastic messages. So i spent the morning in my routine manner, doing the plogging work & all. Later as the dusk dawned, this was time to watch the majestic town hall lightened up and the hazy atmosphere at the ridge. I set the timer and spent 2 hours of my evening time at the ridge from 5-7 pm. Then I luckily took the last bus to summerhill, by whoosh, last 2 minutes! Needless to say, the mall & the ridge were absolutely ravishing to watch & the pictures show the same as well. Many people had also come to celebrate Diwali in Shimla as tourists. The craze could be seen on their faces.
Bombardment and fireworks later started in Summerhill(Summerhill is the place where Himachal Pradesh University and my room is located) around 9 pm and I joined my PG owner and PG mates to celebrate together and, then later I also joined a boy named Aaron, whose father owns the campus cuisine and sizzling pizza restaurant in Summerhill, who had lots of fireworks in the dorm room and yes it also made me feel like a kid again.
So yes, this diwali was truly memorable for me and I don't expect myself to leave such a place as Shimla never to return once my graduation is over. I look forward to visit and stay here again & agian for some days or probably a month every year. Shimla is as majestic as it can be and I can say that by celebrating this Diwali in shimla I also fulfilled my obligation for spending three years of my life here. I ask you have you yet found your place that changed your life?
