The DiscoverNH Route
Stretching 2500 km, the route spans across linking the colorful vibrancies of Jaipur in Rajasthan with the majesty of the Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas in Manali. It is truly a romance of the open road. The week-long DiscoverNH travel itinery will take you along the route that brims over with picturesque beauty.
The first day will be a stretch from Jaipur in Rajasthan to Pong Dam situated in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, which will be a 12 hour 57 minutes’ drive. Pong Dam is an earth filled embankment dam on the Beas River. It was the tallest of its type in India during its completion in 1974.
The second day will be devoted to the breathtaking beauty of the Pong Dam itself. A day’s excursion is worth the serenity offered by the area with lush green hills overlooking the dam. The Maharana Pratap Sagar Lake created at Pong Dam is a bird watcher’s delight. It has now become a renowned bird sanctuary which is recognized by internationally important conventions like Ramsar.
On the third day, we will be heading towards Bairagarh in Chamba district which is a 7 hour 55 minutes’ drive. It is a small village on our DiscoverNH trail that offers you peace, solitude and stunning scenic views. Yet, it has all the basic facilities that you might need.
The fourth day will be a thrilling journey from Bairagarh to Jispa via Sach Pass. Sach Pass route being the holy pilgrimage of all adventure travel enthusiasts in the country! As the road meanders from Bairagrh to Jispa, the landscape changes from green vegetation to barren snow clad mountains – offering awe inspiring scenes (and magical show of stars at night!) as the road cuts through vast stretch of barren land.
As the trip touches its fifth day, the DiscoverNH team will take you through Shinku La and return to Manali via Rohtang Atal Tunnel – a tunnel which is an engineering marvel in its own. The Atal tunnel is the longest tunnel above 10,000 feet in the world. It is the highest altitude tunnel that connects Manali to Lahaul Spiti valley throughout the year.
The sixth day will be an excursion in Manali, exploring the wonderful symbiosis of Hindu and Buddhist cultures in this popular hill station. From special cuisine, flea markets to temples and monasteries, there is plenty to fulfill everyone’s interest here.
On the seventh day, our week long journey with you will come to an end as we head back from Manali via Atal Tunnel to Jaipur.
While this journey comes to an end, our bond for adventure with you will only grow.
We will hope to see you again to kick start many more travel expeditions.
Because at DiscoverNH we are always adventure ready!
