The covid scare was still lingering in the minds of our family members but we were itching to visit the mountains. Since we were already in Jalandhar for a family visit, we planned a short trip to Dalhousie to get the feel of the chills in the hills in December!
We booked our two day stay at the Mohan Palace, Dalhousie. It was a superb accommodation with parking for our car and balcony view of the mountains. Also it was at a walking distance from the main Gandhi chowk market. Just as we liked.
After about 5 hours of a drive from Jalandhar, we reached Dalhousie and checked in to our room. The view from the balcony was so inviting that we dropped our bags and couldn't wait to go out and enjoy the cool rainy weather.
First things first! We rushed to the market and bought rain coats as it was pouring continuously since we arrived. The cool breeze and the smell of the fresh rain was making us happy as ever.
We spent our time exploring the local dishes and enjoying the weather and strolling in the market.
We booked a cab as the roads were very narrow and not really upto the mark. Nevertheless the beauty of the place made us overlook this fact and just immerse ourselves into the views which were surrounding us. We went to the Dainkund peak and made a short trek to the Pohlani devi temple at the top of the peak. Later we learnt from the tea sellers that a proper 4-5 day trek was available from here in case we had planned a longer visit.
After enjoying delicious pav bhaji and coffee in the hills, we went to the Khajjiar Lake.
Though the lake was not really the main attraction, the overall view from the main ground was really nice. We did a mini photo shoot and had fun simply sitting and enjoying the silence and calmness as not much crowd was there due to covid fear.
The day began with a short walk towards Beeji's Park near Dalhousie Public school. The school premises was really extensive and inviting.
The return journey was the one with a heavy heart, loaded with wonderful memories and plans to revisit the place with more time to explore and spend in the lap of mother nature .
