A quaint little hill station at a distance of approx 4 hrs from Amritsar airport. When my husband told me that he was getting g a 4 days off, we decided to plan a trip to Amritsar & Dalhousie. So first stop on arrival into Amritsar, was to take a cab and straight to Dalhousie.
On the way, we stopped at Mama's Rasoi was a spotted lunch before we head straight to Dalhousie. The ghats were delightful and scenic. By the time we arrived at our resort, it was 5:45 pm. We decided to check in and explore the near by areas. Why waste time when all we had was 20 hours in Dalhousie?
So off we went to the Mall Road and the St John's Church. It was a beautiful little market buzzing with tourists and of course the street vendors with scrumptious delights to offer.
P. S. Don't forget to bargain while buying winter wear. Also carry cash, not all stores accept Gpay/Paytm/Cards. Most of the stores there accept only cash.
It was a nice, cold and beautiful evening. We had dinner at our hotel and by 10pm we retired to our room.
Starting off the morning with a buffet breakfast, it couldn't get any better. Always stuff yourself, as you have lots of walking and sightseeing to do. First stop Khajjiar.
The breathtaking valley of Khajjiar also known as the Mini Switzerland of India is a must go. Just go for a picnic or enjoy the scenic beauty, khajjiar will give you memories for life. Beauty lies in nature and that can be felt here. One can spend a whole day here or even for a few hours it's completely worth it. Buy a few souviners, click some photos, and get lost in the nature.
On return from Khajjiar, we went straight to Kalatop wildlife Sanctuary. Now because it started to snow, we couldn't see any animals except for a few mountain goats. But we experienced the snow fall, and it was magical. Holding lil flakes of snow, making a mini snowman, it's the most wonderful time of the year. Sounds chrismassy right? It certainly is out there.
After spending a few hours here, we headed back to Mall Road, to have lunch. And after having lunch, we headed to the Indo-tibetan market for some bargain deals and there by to St John's Church. Located in close vicinity, the St John's Church was established in 1863 and provides peace and tranquility to all those who visit.
After exploring this peaceful and quiet town, we headed towards our hotel to retire for the day. And the next day, after breakfast we headed back to Amritsar.
It's difficult to say a Good Bye, but Dalhousie I will return and till that moment comes, your memories will always be treasured.
