So this was first ever not so solo trip and the first trip to Himachal. It was a 2D/1N + 2 N Delhi- Bir- Delhi trip.
After traveling for almost 10 hours,I woke up to this beautiful view of the snow-capped mountains and the streams flowing below (just like how we used to draw a scenery when we were little ). Through the foggy window of the bus I could see the scenic beauty and the beautiful houses as we passed through the narrow lanes of Palampur.
Seeing snow for the first time(duur se though 😂),it was indeed overwhelming.
We reached Bir in the morning. After breakfast and checking in at The Hostellers, we set out to explore this little beautiful place and it's surrounding places. At first we went to visit the monastery located at the outskirts of Bir. The monastery is situated in a very peaceful area and is an apt place for people who like to meditate. Videography isn't allowed in the main prayer hall.
After visiting the Palpung Monastery our next destination was this beautiful place in Bangoru. The waterfall is named after the place by the locals, Bangoru Waterfall. Just a little away from the waterfall there's a little canteen where one can get beverages like coffee, tea , snacks and maggi obviously. Sit there, relax and enjoy the beautiful valley.
Since we were a little late, we decided not to go to the other waterfall (wilder than this one) and we headed to our next stop, the sunset view. The view point was the paragliding landing site. This has to be one of the most surreal sunset that I've ever experienced.
One can roam around and explore the different cafes in the area. We ended the night with bon fire and lots of dance and singing.
Comes the D day. We woke up early in the morning and prepared ourselves for Billing. After completing the formalities needed before going for paragliding, we sat on the open 207s and up we went to the take off site. It was a beautiful morning and the weather was perfect for gliding. The view from the top was breathtaking.
As soon as we reached the top we were prepped up and we took off one by one. It was one hell of an experience.
After breakfast we decided to explore the nearby places. We rented rides (easily available there) for the day and went to visit the Eight Stupas of Sherabling. From there we headed to the Prachin Shiv Mandir in Baijnath. Enjoy the scenic beauty of Himachal as you pass through village Bhattu.
Coming back to Bir we headed to a cafe and enjoyed a delicious meal as we were starving by now. We sat there enjoying our food as well as the vibe that the sunset had created. After that, returned the vehicles and headed to our stay to pack our things up and leave for Delhi. Thus, ended the weekend. Came back to Delhi with lots of memories and some new friends.
There are many travel companies that plan weekend trips from Delhi almost every week and I joined one such group. You meet strangers and end up knowing so much about one another.
Expenses about the trip; Package of ₹4900/ which included our commute from and back to Delhi, Breakfast and dinner for Day 1 , breakfast for Day 2, paragliding ( including videography and photography for the same) and stay at the hostel. ; Vehicle rent varies from company to company ( we booked 2 bikes and 2 scooters for 2/3rd of a day for ₹2700).
If your package doesn't include GoPro videography, it costs around ₹500/ extra other than the paragliding fee.
