HEY,

This blog is about my trip to Dalhousie one of the beautiful places in Himachal Pradesh. As most of you would be familiar with this place and the ones who are not don't worry i am here to tell you about the place in detail.

As the name suggests Dalhousie is named after Lord Dalhousie ( one of the former Governor General OF INDIA ). Dalhousie is located in Himachal which is the neighbouring state of Punjab. The nearest city is Pathankot(Punjab). Dalhousie is one of the favorite places for many bagpackers. It has many mesmerizing views with tall mountains all around.

TRANSPORTATION:- You can easily go to Dalhousie via bus. Firstly you have to go to Pathankot which is the nearest city to Dalhousie, then you have to go to Pathankot bus stand where the buses are constantly available for Dalhousie . The buses will charge you around 150 to 200 rupees and will drop you at Dalhousie bus stand. Volvo bus service is also available from Chandigarh to Dalhousie.

STAY FACILITIES:- In Dalhousie there are many stay facilities available. From a bunkbed in a hostel to a king size bed in a lavish hotel you will find all in Dalhousie, and that totally depends on your budget that where you want to stay. The average price will be around Rs. 2500 per night.

PLACE OF INTEREST:- Dalhousie is full of place that are jaw dropping and will mesmerize you with the beauty that they hold.

1. THE FAMOUS SHUBASH CHOWK:- It is one of the places that is usually preferred by many tourists. This place have many stalls of mouthwatering maggi, sweet gulabjamun, steaming hot momos etc. This place will give you very positive vibe and you will feel to sit there for hour.

2.ST. PATRICK;S CHURCH:- The church is very famous and is just a minute walk away from Shubash chowk. This church was established in 1909. This church has very beautiful interior as well as exterior and is among one of the famous places in Dalhousie.

3. GRAND POST OFFICE( commonly known as GPO):- Around GPO there is very beautiful market from which you can buy souvenir and keep them as a memory of your DALHOUSIE trip. Near GPO there is a small market called the TIBETIAN MARKET. This market is also very famous among tourists.

4. KALATOP WILDLIFE RESERVE:- It was recognized as a reserve on july 1 1949. It lies between Dalhousie and CHAMBA(a beautiful place near to dalhousie,will write another blog on it later) at the northwest side of the mighty DAULA DHAR range. It is at an altitude of 2440 mtr. and it is 8.5 km from GPO. This is one of the best treks available near DALHOUSIE.

BEST TIME TO VISIT DALHOUSIE:- You can visit Dalhousie in winter as well in summer. If you want to see snow and want to play in snow then winter is the best season for you, mainly the months of DEC to FEB. And if you are tired of hot weather in your cities and want to refresh yourselves then summer is the perfect season for you mainly months of JUNE to SEPTEMBER.
