4 Off Beat Experiences in Bir

Located in the Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, Bir is a noted centre for ecotourism, spiritual studies and meditation. Also home to a Tibetan refugee settlement, Bir houses Many Buddhist Monasteries and a large Stupa.

A 12-hour bus ride from New Delhi will take you to Bir. A place where you can find the real you.

Here are 4 offbeat things you NEED to experience to get an essence of the place!

1. PARAGLIDING ( Cost: Rs 1400-2000)

I am sure you have at one point thought how it would feel like to fly.

Well here is your lucky chance to experience that similar feeling. Trained Pilots help you take to the skies and take my word, it is worth every single penny.

Cold winds, beautiful views and a sense of calmness like never before.

These were the things that I will cherish until the next time I do paragliding

2. Chill At The Landing Area (Cost: Zilch)

The landing area is a huge maidaan where paragliders who take off from Billing land.

Your views would include open skies, an open ground and people flying above you.
And if you are there at the sunset, then you are one lucky person. Bir hosts some of THE most beautiful sunsets.

You can spend hours and hours at this place without getting bored.
Just plug in your headphones and recharge yourself!

3. Biking in the Jungles of Bir ( Cost: Rs 200-1500)

If you are someone who loves to explore places on bike, then you’d be amazed by the fact that multiple shops lend Bikes and Cycles in Bir at per hour and day basis.

Going to explore the jungles of Bir on one of these is an experience you will never get in the city.
Breezing through the wind, you know that at that very moment you are truly living it.

4. Playing Cricket With The Children of Bir ( Cost: A request)

Ah, yes. Cricket, the sport that unites the nation. Like other places, Bir is also in love with the game.
You can find these children playing cricket in one of the monastery grounds or near the landing spot.

Extremely friendly as they are, you can request to play cricket with them!
And you are definitely in for a good game.

P.s: Bir has the cutest of dogs! Challenge yourself to pet them all! And the cafes in Bir provide the tastiest of food! Ranging from lip smacking Momos to home made Pizzas!

So go!
Book your trip to Bir and spend as much time as you have to in this peaceful little town. There's ample of good food and good company there.
Clear your headspace, recharge yourself , fly in the forests and in the air and through your thoughts.
Bir is a place I have promised myself to go back to and so I have shared this piece with you all.
Give it a try?
