Assam is known as tea capital of India.
Dibrugarh is known as tea city of India.
Palampur small beautiful hill station of Himachal Pradesh is popularly known as tea capital of North India.
Today we will discuss about tea capital of North India i. e. Palampur.

Palampur means  " a settlement where plenty of rainfall ".
Palampur is a beautiful hill station of Himachal Pradesh in Kangra district.
Palampur is a calm place. You can enjoy company of nature.
There are lots of things to do in palampur including Adventurous, religious, historical places.

There are many places near Palampur which are worth seeing. Some of them are:

1. Kangra fort :Kangra fort is a famous fort built by royal Rajput of kangra. Kangra fort is oldest and largest fort of Himachal Pradesh having small gate entrance. This fort built on a high mountains. Large part of fort was damaged by earthquake in 1905. Still this fort has good structure which attracts many tourists.
This fort has a big museum. When you upstairs to the top of fort you will enjoy beautiful confluence of two rivers. There are three temples in the fort.
This fort has not only historical importance but also has beautiful architecture.
Location : Kangra fort is located at 33 kms away from palampur and 20 kms away from dharamshala.

2. Masrur temple: Masrur temple is popularly known as Rock cut temple. This temple has three entrances. Archaeological studies suggest that complex was incomplete. Artists and architect had more ambitious plan. Some sculpture of masrur  were either lost or damaged by earthquake still this temple is in decent condition. This hindhu temple faces northeast side instead of East side.
Location : masrur rock temple is situated kms away from palampur and   kms from Kangra

3. Tea gardens : palampur is famous for its lush green tea gardens. You can buy tea from these gardens.

4. Brijeshwari Devi temple: This is shaktipeeth also known as kangra Devi mandir. Temple complex has white marble. People from Rajasthan wore yellow clothes and take blessings from shree brijeshwari mata. This temple is located in Kangra 33 kms from palampur.

5. Chamunda devi mandir : shaktipeeth chamunda devi mandir is dedicated to Goddess mata kali. This temple is situated at only 21 kms away from palampur. Fod stay there are many options like hotels, dharmshala etc.
Mata chamunda devi temple is situated on the bank of river Baner.

6. Baijnath shiv mandir : Baijnath is a famous shiv mandir where Ravana keep the Shivling while going to Lanka. But once this shivling is placed it cannot be up high. So shiv temple has important ancient past. In Baijnath noone can celebrate dusserha festival.

7. Shobha singh art gallery Andreta: Shobha singh art gallery is dedicated to magnificent work of artist Shobha singh. This art gallery is located in village Andreta which is just 14 kms away from palampur.

8. Bir billing : If you want some thrill then go to Bir Billing for Paragliding. Bir is a landing point and Billing is a Take off point.
