If you are someone who's always been troubled by the lack of leg-room in a flight or wished for economy class to be better, more luxurious, here's great news for you.

Alejandro Núñez Vicente, CEO, Founder & Designer of Chaise Longue Economy Seat proposed the idea of a double-decker airplane seat in his mission to revive the economy class seats. It can soon be a reality after the grand premiere of Vicente's design at AIX 2022 in Hamburg, one of the biggest aviation shows in the world. He's positive that the design could be implemented in a Boeing 747, Airbus A330, or any other medium to large wide-body airplane.

How exactly will a double-decker seat look like?

Passengers can access the prototype double-decker seat by climbing two ladder-like steps. Wondering where did the overhead cabin go? Vincent created a separate space between the two levels of seating to accommodate luggage of six passengers.

People who tried out the double-decker seat designs have mixes reviews. "In the vast, echoing halls of the Hamburg Messe conference center, it's hard to imagine what it would actually be like to be that close to the cabin ceiling", stated a CNN source.

"It does allow me to stretch out my legs, and there's a footrest for added comfort. Still, because the other level of seats are directly above me and in my eyeline, it feels pretty claustrophobic. But if you don't mind tight spaces, and you're planning simply to sleep all flight, it could be an effective solution", said another CNN source.
