If ever you search random photos of Europe, one of the most common picture will be of a lake outlined with mountains and a small village with a distinct spire. That is Hallstatt..!! Couple of hours drive from Salzburg through the scenic Lake District and you are in this magical place.
The moment you step into Hallstatt you will be mesmerized with everything around.. It's such a tiny village with less than thousand resident population but thousands and thousand of tourists flocking the entire place.
The lake on one side and beautiful timber houses on the other. Among the many beautiful houses few are rented as Airbnb and few are hotels. The entire place is flocked with tourists but you will spot cute cafeterias everywhere..
There are couple of things to see in this small town. Chapels, the lakeside & there's also a funicular that takes you all the way up to the salt mine. Price of it is 16 Euros & its so worth it coz you don't just see the mine but you get to see the entire view of the lake and the village from above.
If you are going to Halstatt for a day trip make sure you have the freshly baked cream rolls- super yummy!
Its a short walk from one end of Halstatt to another and you will never get tired of the spectacular sight that you enjoy as you walk.
When the day gets brighter you can take boat rides across the lake and enjoy the view on either sides of the lake.
As we walked back through the streets of Hallstatt.. we realised how beautiful the simplest of things can be. It's not the glitz and glamour that brings happiness to us but the little things that are priceless , fills up our heart with immense joy..!!
If you are ever visiting Eastern Europe , Hallstatt must be in your list. Believe me, it's magical!!
