Statue of Unity, as most of us would know is the worlds tallest statue. In the recent times reaching this place has become quite easy in terms of connectivity. Now we were travelling from Mumbai and IRCTC has a train running at night from Mumbai to Ekta nagar. This has become quite convenient now for Mumbaikers to reach this marvel and explore the surrounding.

It is an architectural marvel , showing the true prowess's of the visionary that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was, to whom this entire town is dedicated to.

About the Statue of Unity

The statue of unity is created in memory of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He was the first deputy prime minister and home minister of the independent India. The statue is situated in Kevadiya district of Gujarat, near the Sardar Sarovar dam at Narmada valley. The statue is the world's tallest statue with a height of 182 m and a weight of 1700 tonnes of bronze.

It took exactly 4 years for the entire construction. The statue was inaugurated on the on the 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Patel on 31st Oct, 2018 by the Prime minister of India, Narendra Modi. This statue is one of its kind, so glorious and profound. It was sculpted by Ram V Sutar from Maharashtra and is constructed by Larsen n Toubro(LTI).

The Statue of Unity has transformed the place into a tourist spot. Glorified with the beauty of the Narmada valley, mountains, greenary and other attraction that has been built around this place.

Places to visit near the statue

The booking for visiting any of the attractions in Kevadiya from the Statue to Jungle safari, everything can we booked online. Ours was a day trip, we reached Ekta Nagar early morning and there is free bus service from the railway station to the statue, which is roughly a 15-20 mins ride away.

Since we did not know how much time we would spend at each attraction, we decided to take the basic ticket, which covers 2-3 spots. To visit the Statue of Unity with the viewing gallery access, Valley of flowers and Light show. We could take tickets to other attractions on the spot as time permits. The convenience of the free bus service is pretty good. We can reach any tourist spot using this bus.
